He's not saying don't make Mass Effect 3 guys... he's saying don't call it MAss effect 3.... too late now though, once they started with Mass Effect 2, it would be weird to add a subtitle to the third and final game... it has to be Mass Effect 3 now.



I'll agree that more original title names would have been better "Mass Effect: Fight for the Lost" or whatever rather than Mass Effect 2 (just pulling crap out of my head... you get the idea).

I dont remember reading lord of the rings 3, or Jason Bourne 2, lion the witch and the wardrobe 5.

I think the marketing of games follows movies more than books.  And the reason for doing that is so that less involved fans will recognize the game's (or movie's) title and buy it on impulse.  With a series of books you're less likely to have casual, uninformed fans like that.  

Another big difference between books and games/movies is that the author's name is prominent on the cover and is often a bigger selling point than the title or the description, leading to more freedom in the titles given to books.  It is true that there are fans that will buy Bioware games because it's by Bioware.  But those are hardcore fans.  It's pretty much the norm with books that people buy a book because it's from an author they like.

No. The Lord of the Rings is six books collected into three volumes, all of which form one novel (The Lord of the Rings).

If you're going to make a point, then try harder. None of the series so far has had a subtitle, and they're not going to do it just for the final game because you said so.

Dragon Age had a subtitle (Origins), the second one doesn't (yet). And does it need one? No, it does not.

I agree it makes absolutely no sense to change the style in the middle of the series. There was an entire video talking about how f***** up the naming of Aliens, Rockys, Final Fantasies and some other series are changing from numbers to random subtitles and back to numbers

I read the bourne supremancy, the bourne ultimatum.

lion the with and the wardrobe, prince caspian etc.

while they may be the third book in the series its not how you remember them, man jason bourne 2 was great. no one says that.

they are all based upon books that each had a new title, as far as i know the mass effect books came after the games
