this was a planed trilogy from the begging, they didn’t decide to make quick cash in sequels because the first one sold well, and in case you did not notice, lord of the rings was also a trilogy.

you are right lord of the rings was a trillogy
.

No it wasn't.  It was one book chopped up into three pieces because it was too damn long

Not saying dont make another mass effect game, but why do movies and games get lazy in there titles when books dont.

I dont remember reading lord of the rings 3, or Jason Bourne 2, lion the witch and the wardrobe 5.

Come on get creative.

Technically speaking Lord of the Rings was 1 story that was so freaking long they had to cut in in 3 parts with "The Hobbit" as a prologue/prequel.

The Bourne series has 8 books and for new comers, without wikipedia or at least getting a newer print of Identity with the book list on the inside cover it can be very frustrating buying/reading them all in the right order.

Also "Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe" is the second book in the Chronicles of Narnia. "Magician's Nephew" is the first book (though technically it was the fourth released it was meant to be considered the first)

Please at least if you are going to use examples, know what you are talking about.

Personally I think Mass Effect is fine as is with it's current title system. Mass Effect is simply Mass Effect. Not Mass Effect 1. No. Mass Effect.

Also one more thing, Fight for the Lost is not a subtitle/after-title/whatever. It is the tag line from the adverts.

I'm happy with the number system. At least we don't end up with something stupid like what we got with the Rambo films where the first was called First Blood and the second was called Rambo: First Blood 2 and after that came Rambo 3 then the fourth was called.....RAMBO.

Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3. Simple. Straight forward. Good.

Sometimes one has to realize....less is more.

My thoughts exactly. Besides, I would rather BioWare focus on the really important aspects of the third game, then on something as stupid as a subtitle for ME3. This thread fails miserably.

Just look at Rambo, can you tell what's their order if you had no prior knowledge?

Wow,   So I have seen several people post on this.   Obvious many of you were not arround when these movies were in the movie theater.   Yes I am a gamer and I am over 30.  DEAL WITH IT

The titles are Rambo; First Blood   Rambo; First Blood Part 2 and Rambo: First Blood Part III.

Those are the release titles.   Only AFTER Sly got lazy with Rambo FBP III (on the talk show circuit promoting the movie at the time) did the first two movies ever get called anything other than their names.

That being said, this whole thread is pointless.    If Bioware wants to put their creative juices INTO the game rather than into the name of the game I am ALL FOR THAT.

Giving Mass Effect 3 a name beyond just that is about as important as releasing ME3 ONLY ON COMPUTER!    While I would wholey and heartelly support such a move it is not likely to happen.

Haha, I'm actually tired of all the subtitles nowadays, a normal numbering system feels fresh in the midst of titles such as 5nal Destination, Scre4m or Transformers: The Revenge of the Fallen (that movie does not deserve a title that long).

But as long as we're dishing out possible alternatives I'll go with Mass Effect Goes Hawaiian.

I'm digging these titles. I think in A New Reaper we should have this scene where the Normandy shoots a missile in a hole on the Reaper and blows it up and in The Reapers Strike Back we have Garrus frozen in some kind of carbon material.

this is truly said of the lack of comprehension in this day in age. I know now why gaider and ray name there games in a sequential order, becuase the populace is to stupid to understrand anything else.

If the absolute and complete brain dead  individuals who have commened in this thres do not undestaand the difference beweem lord of the rings 2 and the two towers as books as titles, we might as wel get rid of art and readin now, hell we might as well nuke the planet,

Yeah, well books are books and not movies....   Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 are typical of movies.

Yes there are exceptions....  Star wars, Empire strikes back, Return of the Jedi.... sure... absolutely.

But does the "godfather" trilogy   ((often cited as one of the cinema's greatest trilogies))) "suffer" by being called "godfather, godfather part 2, godfather part 3?"  Ditto with the  "Back To The Future" trilogy...

absolutely not, and its ridiculous to say that it did.

really you are trying to sound intelectual and booksmart by demanding such a thing, but it's a trival argument and you fail to notice one TINY detail.....

there is

Mass Effect
Mass Effect 2

if the third part was NOT called Mass Effect 3... it would ruin the current run of titles.... do you suggest a george lucas type move and have Mass Effect 2 retitled to make the title of the third game make canonical sense? Like he did with "Star Wars IV: A New Hope" ... .I remember a time that movie was simply called "Star Wars"... yes I'm old enough to remember it existing WITHOUT "A NEW HOPE" on the opening crawl.. or another lucas move.... have Raiders of the lost Ark retitled "Indiana Jones and The Raiders Of The Lost Ark"...

A title matters little... you are in danger of becoming a juvenille george lucas by messing with **** nobody really cared about until you started actually tinkering with it.

Lets face it... you'd have to actually rename BOTH existing games... ."Mass Effect: Episode One: The Phantom Specter"..   "Mass Effect: Episode Two: Attack Of The Collectors"  ..... "Mass Effect: Episode Three:Revenge Of The Reapers"...

Seriously....c'mon now.

So you'd rather read than play a video game..... so you want the titles to be longer so you can spend more time reading. Got it.

There is an old saying, about judging books by their covers..... really the same thing applies to titles. I hate the title Mass Effect, but it had to be called "Something".

A stunning title might make up for a medicore experence as you quoted the LOTR trilogy, I can see how it might have helped you... personally it was just three books of walking to a destination that apparently can be reached by fricking giant eagles in the first place..... could have saved a lot of words and useless tom bombadil nonsense....

No my friend. What's truly sad is that you can't even spell the word sad to begin with. Second of all, everyone here that has commented against your pointless and moronic thread has valid points and clearly understands what you're trying to say. We just don't understand the need for you to freak out over something as petty as a creative title. Not to mention that if they didn't take your idea into consideration in the second game, what the hell makes you think they're going to do it for the third one? The one here who's really sad is you, trying to sound like an intellectual and a know-it-all, when in fact you sound like an **** insulting everyone who doesn't agree with you. If you want to get better responses or for people to even take your point of view into consideration, you should at least treat other people the same way you'd want to be treated, and not be a complete ******.
