I'm having this problem where pretty much every interplay/black Isle/Bioware RPG has problems with music playback.
BG1 often doesn't start playing music in the area I'm in unless I quicksave, THEN it starts up afterwards.
Icewind Dale very rarely plays any music nomatter what I do, and it never loops (is it supposed to?)
BG2 not only doesn' t play music, even ambient sounds sometimes aren't heard
This is with a Soundblaster X-Fi.
I have tried turning on/off EAX for everything, to no avail. And I've even tried setting sound acceleration to standard and basic. Doesn't make a difference.
The only thing that worked was turning off ALL sound acceleration (emulation-only) but that causes considerable sound lag, so that's not a viable solution. Is there any workaround for this??

What OS are you using? If you are using Vista/7 then go to Creatives website, make sure your drivers are up to date, and also install a program called Creative Alchemy, this is for older games on vista/7. Alchemy fixed the sound issue I was having with BG2 and Win 7 64-bit.
