I understand what you're saying but I think that dwarves and elves are so trope-ified that they should be avoided at all costs.

Original-ish fantasy races? Bring them on; I like variety and new things.

Dragon Age took a fresh (or a least a path less often traveled) take on Dwarves and Elves.

I agree. One of he first stories where the elves were not some ethereal race of superior beings with extraordinary power and arrogance to match. In DA every race has an intrinsic flaw or frailty that makes the entire story more engaging

Oh, absolutely, they did.  I think the scenarios would have been better without dwarves and elves, though.  Even if they made all of them different castes of humans or something.

I get that they had to use dwarves and elves to start people off with things they recognize, as many do when building new fantasy worlds.  Maybe they'll slowly get rid of dwarves and elves over time.  :)

That would upset a lot of fans of the Dragon Age series. Unless you mean future Bioware fantasy universes, or future fantasy games in general.

Everything!  Banish them from fantasy games like they have been banished from fantasy literature!  :o

There's only one elf that can join you in Origins, and one in awakening. and only one and the same dwarf in both of them. ...and that is way too few. The opposite would be more desireable IMO.

Thus I agree completely
