Bioware should add a PvP arena to make balancing classes a massive nightmare.

Serching DA2 forums for "co-op" and "multiplayer" reveals:

Co-op: 7 results
Multiplayer: 11 results

From this I conclude that people obviously want co-op and mutliplayer in DA.

Co-op would make it hard to switch characters though.

I'll bet that there are a lot of people that posted in those threads (just like in this one) that do not want it. When are people going to understand that just because they want something, and think it's worth asking for, it doesn't mean that they will ever get it?

Make the Coop mode like Fable where he can make his own story and he just follows u around and helps kill monsters but he cant interact with any npcs, only u can and he cant choose where to go. or make it like marvel online and u have them in your game by inviting them and u if u dont want to have people then u dont...

Those are minor details. Let's not dwell on them ^ ^

I don't want a multiplayer or co-op but it doesn't hurt to ask. Putting your thoughts into a coherent, persuasive argument can only benefit your cause. Yeah, you might not get what you want, but asking for the same thing with a strong voice over a period of time also might work. Don't tell people what they can and cannot ask for, so long as it's respectfully requested.

No thank you.  At least, not in Dragon Age 2.  As others have said, the decision-making/dialogue system would not work with more than one person.  I play co-op games with my friends to have fun; I do not play co-op games to spend all non-combat sections in a manner like this:

  • Scene: Zevran lies on the ground unconscious.
  • Player 1, "Let's revive him."
  • Player 2, "Are you nuts?  HE JUST TRIED TO KILL US."
  • Player 1, "But he might have information."
  • Player 2, "What new information?  Loghain and most of Ferelden want us dead.  Not exactly noteworthy."
  • Player 1, "But he was in that cut scene.  He must be important."
  • Player 2, "You're meta-gaming again.  Knock it off."
  • Player 1, "But."
  • Twenty minutes later....
  • Player 1 and Player 2, shouting at the same time, "you-are-so-stupid-I-cannot-believe-you'd-choose-that-I'm-never-playing-with-you-again!"
I have many other examples I could use, but I won't belabor the point.  :P

TLDR: A  co-op game can be good; a Dragon Age 2 co-op game would just be frustrating.

[*]Make it so only player 1 can make the decisons and player two cant interact with the npcs and if he doesnt like your decisions he doesnt have to play with u. I think they should make it like fable where he just follows u and helps kill monsters with you

Did you balance that with the number of threads in this forum? Or the content of replies? If we use your sampling method I can also claim that

"People obviously want to have the option to romance their sister(Bethany)"

"People obviously want Dragon Age 2 to look like a frame-by-frame replica of Lord Of The Rings" (courtesy of Rubbish Hero)

"People obviously want to sell Nike sneakers and handbags on this forum at bargain prices."

Seriously. You need to further your understanding of what constitutes a majority opinion/the basics of statistics.

or u could make the co op just like in terms of marvel, ultimate alliance ? and if u think your going to argue with the other player then dont play co op. for those who want co op we want it to play with friends and will get along and wont have to argue about cut scene decisions and character swapping or skill distribution

They should make a coop-centric dragon age spinoff.
WITH A FREAKIN TOOLSET UPDATE.

So who would decide how the PC companions get upskilled? Which spells to choose, upgrade etc...

I said in a earlier post that u would choose how all the PC companions put their skill distribution and stats into, the other person is just there to control a companion so u can have fun killing monsters together

Firstly, to answer the OP: No.

Secondly: [@Maverick827]

This reminds me of a joke about mathematicians and spherical horses...

Your "proof" is flawed because it assumes infinite money, or at the very least, excess money, and that is a complete fallacy.

I think it was actually a physicist and a spherical cow, but other than that your observations about that ridiculous "proof" are right on the mark.

Maverick827 wrote...

Analogies are always a risky way to debate.  You should stary from them in the future.

Your error is that you have absolutely no proof that Ferari could not build a hybrid car/boat that functions perfectly as both.

*Shakes head in sadness at another mind destroyed by rationalism*.

Creating an engine and story that supports a multiplayer experience is a significant undertaking and will detract from a single player experience, even if you don't think it would. The reasons why have been detailed at length in many other threads like this before.

What he said. I'm done here.

Because then the resources that would be used to make DA2 a solid, good quality RPG would be split up into a mediocre/crappy main campaign and pointless, unending co-op.

I would love to get statistics on the number of people who make this argument, and the proportion of them that know anything about developing games in general and Bioware games in particular.

I would love for there to be co-op modes in these games, though I acknowledge that it is a pipe dream for the moment.

How about this: I tend to believe Bioware, who said it would stop them from creating the best SP RPG experience they could, ....

Did  you see someone from Bioware post that somewhere? I'm interested. All I've seen as the "official" word is somewhere someone from Bioware posted, simply, "Dragon Age is a single player game." (I have no idea who it was or where, so take this as my memory, not proof.)

I did see someone from Bioware post that, but damn, it was a while ago, on the old forums. Maybe Georg Zoeller, the lead system designer? This being the internet, I understand if people don't believe me, but I stand by my comment.

At any rate, as I've stated earlier, if it was possible ,I would welcome it with open arms. Who am I to take the fun out of something for someone else... Unfortunately, it's not, and so, here we are Posted Image
