YES... I guess Im alone but thats okay taking on darkspawn with a friend sounds cool =]

It does, but I suppose that's not the point. The point is to get a quality single player game.

Why is almost everybody against m on this?"

Because they don't want co-op? Plenty of posters have said why. Or was that in other threads? This keeps getting proposed and keeps getting shot down.

coop would be awesome, it s the only thing the game needs to be perfect.

I dont mean multiplayer or any mmo things, just coop, the exact same campaign you would play as a single player but with one or two friends playing npc or custom made character in the group.

pure BG legacy.

Gotta love the necroed topics.

So how would your awesome coop game work? Would there be 2 Hawkes or would one person "play" a companion? How would inventory work?

Nope, no co-op, ever.

The one major thing I like about BW is that they seem to be one of the few devs that AREN'T obsessed with tacking on co-op & multiplayer to their titles.

While I enjoy playing certain types of game online, I think online play has really killed the single player experience.
Bioware are one of the few devs around that can still knockout an epic, single player game.

Besides if DA2 did go co-op, it would be like Fable II all over again: a complete waste.

Sad to read this considering bioware devs basically initiated co-op rpg genre with baldur's gate back in 1998.

Even play a companion would be fine, each player would handle his own inventory, well, baldur like. worked great back then i don't see why it would not work with DA.

See now, this is an idea I can sympathize with, the idea of playing DA:O or the upcoming DA2 in a co-op mode does sound like it would be fun....BUT......there's a problem, for such a thing to be implemented the devs would have to take the time and resources to make it so.....time and resources which could have been put to use making the single player experience as good as it can be.

Would I be happy if that sacrifice was made to make co-op viable? As much as I like the idea of co-op I like an awesome single player campaign for an rpg a lot more so the answer to that question is a resounding.....NO!

It worked in BG and NWN because companion inventories were separate; they are shared in DAO and DA2, and for it to work differently in co-op, Bioware would have to overhaul the game engine pretty significantly since it was not designed for any form of multi-player.

The more i read your post and the more i think there is truth to it.
And why does the inventory works like this..because they had to design it this way for the console version. Co-op worked great when it was a pc game , and it could still be awesome, but when they choose to go the console road, they didnt find viable solution and just shafted the whole damn thing.

And please spare us the hypocrite "i dont want them to spend a penny on anything else than the mode i play".
I am a PC player and when i look at what was done to enable console play, the  gameplay compromise and such, the more i think we wont see old days coop coming back soon.

Why are all these people dropping by just to say no ?
It's a decent enough idea, and people who doesn't want them could simply, you know, no co-op.

Not that simple. To have co-op would imply major game design changes that would most likely ruin the game that works now. Sorry, good idea, wrong game.

I for one LOVE co-op in RPG settings. Kinda brings back mems of the old table top days which kinda faded once everyone got jobs and became adults. I love the single play rpg dont get me wrong, its a Fav, but a truly epic rpg with a co-op element is always a welcome to me. Hell, as far as that goes Id LOVE to see a Dragon Age MMO, its has more then enough history for such an endeavor. Just my thoughts :)
