coop would be awesome, it s the only thing the game needs to be perfect.
I dont mean multiplayer or any mmo things, just coop, the exact same campaign you would play as a single player but with one or two friends playing npc or custom made character in the group.
pure BG legacy.

Nope, no co-op, ever.
The one major thing I like about BW is that they seem to be one of the few devs that AREN'T obsessed with tacking on co-op & multiplayer to their titles.
While I enjoy playing certain types of game online, I think online play has really killed the single player experience.
Bioware are one of the few devs around that can still knockout an epic, single player game.
Besides if DA2 did go co-op, it would be like Fable II all over again: a complete waste.

Gotta love the necroed topics.
So how would your awesome coop game work? Would there be 2 Hawkes or would one person "play" a companion? How would inventory work?

Even play a companion would be fine, each player would handle his own inventory, well, baldur like. worked great back then i don't see why it would not work with DA.

It worked in BG and NWN because companion inventories were separate; they are shared in DAO and DA2, and for it to work differently in co-op, Bioware would have to overhaul the game engine pretty significantly since it was not designed for any form of multi-player.

See now, this is an idea I can sympathize with, the idea of playing DA:O
or the upcoming DA2 in a co-op mode does sound like it would be
fun....BUT......there's a problem, for such a thing to be implemented
the devs would have to take the time and resources to make it
so.....time and resources which could have been put to use making the
single player experience as good as it can be.
Would I be
happy if that sacrifice was made to make co-op viable? As much as I
like the idea of co-op I like an awesome single player campaign for an
rpg a lot more so the answer to that question is a resounding.....NO!

Oh no !
Why are all these people dropping by just to say no ?
It's a decent enough idea, and people who doesn't want them could simply, you know, no co-op.
