my suggestion for a multiplayer is this:
the mode would be co-op and similar to the other survivalist modes out there like horde in GoW2.
instead of playing as one of the six classes Shephard can be, you play as one of your squadmates. This allows more choices in terms of 'class' and for 360 players, the ability to play in real time since you only have 3 powers to use and 2 weapons.
an idea for the setting of the mode would be the part where the rest of your team has to hold the line right before the end. this can leave the campaign realtively intact while still referring to it.

Nice thread you got going here Babyjaws. And it has not been spammed down by "No MMO!" posters yet.
Some really nice arguments and explanations have been posted here.
I am totally agreeing on many of them.
DA is a game that is built on the NWN1 game engine. No matter that Bioware is saying that it is the spiritual succesor to Baldurs Gate or who knows what.
Also DA was programmed to allow for MP from the start. I am pretty sure they didn't close all the doors on that. At least not locked them.
And yes...this will not effect single player experience.
This was an economic decission. They wanted to sell copies....so make SP campaigns. And lets face it...Bioware has spent most of their time the last years, making SP games. It is sad that the gaming company that I like the most has chosen this path...instead of revolutinizing the MP gaming industry with something only they can make.
With NWN1 a World was opened up. A world that many crappy games continued to expand and gained a popularity beyong belief and beyond what they deserved. Simply because they where aimed at the mass.
What they are doing with TOR is just the same again. Aiming at the broad mass. They are just talking about how they are going to put "the best of every MMO" in there.
Let us not forget that Bioware wasn't so big and that it was a quite a new company when they made epic games like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights. This is because they where aiming for a hardcore RPG audience.
