I am the author of the gmax/max import exporter, and have just wondered.
My exporter is requiring the Graphicsprocessor tools that came with the Toolset to convert the XML form models into binary. This is super practical because of how we have documentation and examples and i cant see me doing binary, and gmax neither.
You have said that the Toolset for DragonAge2 is an offspring of the current Toolset, but you are still thinking about releasing it at all.
Have those tools also been updated? Or will they still work? And if possible can you release them earlier than the Toolset, if possible right now in preparance for tool developers like me?
Thanks!
Will "GraphicsProcessor**.exe" still work with Dragon Age 2?

Does anyone maybe have contacts to Bioware ,who would graciously point one to me here for any technical questions? I have tried to message Bryan from Wiki but not sure he was there. I fear this question goes under, but i am serious about what i require.

Given that they have said that there is only a chance that the toolset will get a DA2 update at some nebulous point in the future rather than locking it in as a guarantee, I wouldn't get your hopes up about hearing anything from Bioware on this any time soon. They haven't even patched it to work properly with DA1 yet, so anything to do with DA2 at this point is arguably a pipe dream.

According to what I heard in the interview with Fernando and Victor, they don't have the staff to dedicate to the toolset like they had during DAO development, so they can't make hard date promises. Personally, I think the existing tools won't get much, if any, makeover for DA2.

I guess what we're looking for is: "is there any change to the model format"... which would be already known, and requires making no promises for any further work.

Yes as mike said, i am requiring information about the Dragon Age 2 model format, and private access to the "updated" Graphicsprocessors early if possible. Dragon Age1 format is also not fully known.
For sure there is some tech guru at Bioware who can give me tips. Bryan had found out alot ,but he wont answer =( Havent seen him post in months.

I just sent a PM to Craig Graff about this; I hope he points someone that might know at this thread.

The likelihood of there being a toolset for DA2 is pretty much zero.
I heard that Brian left BioWare about a year ago so I'm not sure if he still follows the forum or the game.

I think Bioware was thinking UDK-style (EPIC's Unreal 3 Engine) toolset rather than Aurora-style, meaning that they wanted to build a toolset that would support multiple games instead of a new toolset each game. They are still talking about updates for Origins (including database updates for Awakening and some DLC's) as well as post DA2 toolset updates. After all, DA2 is using the same engine as Origins, but with tweaks.
