Of course. It makes setting peasants on fire that much easier...

Okey, maybe gear is not right word, let say tools. If it's better for you to get the point.
Meaning gears should not define mage power, but spells. It's all about spells.

No one has any thoughts about actually using staves what they used to be... used for?

Sure a bolt of magic was in a mage's repertoire, but they still used them for walking. Aren't they kind of heavy for hoisting onto one's back anyway?

Image IPBImage IPBWalking with a staff would be awkward and slow in a game, I think.  And a staff is probably a lot lighter than a sword or mace, and especially a two-handed sword.

What's all this about staffs? My mage ran around swinging a claymore at mother----ers.

In DA2, Mages can only wield staves, which can be used for range attacks and melee attacks.

Was fun to have a single mage-specific sword in the game. -.-
I can't recall if it was the only suitable sword for a mage.

EDIT: Didn't know about the no-sword thing. I guess sword-staffs are in now.

Please completely destroy the ability to be an armored mage. The inclusion of such in fantasy ruined the balance of classes.

He was a little slow. The other mages took pity on him.

Nonsense. He simply brought a sword AND a lightning bolt to a sword fight.

Well I'm right.

Priest based characters and holy warriors are bad enough. Giving a mage armor takes away the entire point of having a fighter or warrior in your class, he's no longer protection, he's just a liability.

I would like not to have those ridiculous hats. The most powerful ones seemed very funny to me. Ok it has comedy value, but maybe something more awe-inspiring would be cool :) I was amazed they didn't pick on me while walking ferelden.

You can shoot fire from your fingers. That is why.

Image IPBImage IPBI agree with you, but I don't necessarily think that Arcane Warrior needs to be cut (alhtough I won't be surprised if it is).  They just need to tweak it so it isn't so ridiculous.  For example, maybe giving them more melee moves but only with staves and only certain armors or something.

Arcane warriors were the Mary Sues of the mage class.

Oh look, I can do everything a mage can do while being completely invincible with full armour and using any weapon there is, and my skills come from an uber-secret elven ancient magic so I am the most special flower there is!

I for one appreciated the fact that mage was smart enough to consider shooting lightning from his hands while wearing armor.
-----------
Aren't mages just Mary/Marty Sues . . . period?

Image IPBImage IPBIn my opinion, no.  They only have so much mana and spells available.  Yes, one fireball can potentially wipe out a bunch of enemies, but archers and opponents that get in close are bad news for mages.  And this weakness remains.  But if you let them wear armor, that's why it unbalances them (again, in my opinion).

I hope it wasn't metal armor and gloves where off. Other way it may be nasty surprice for mage, because metal and lightning doesn't really work well.

i dont play as a mage often but when i do i always go an arcane warrior and either a shapeshifter or spirit healer because i like becoming a bear and mauling people but it is also handy to be able to heal all ur party at once
