From what I've heard, you can have two romance options: Valen and Natyrra. (hope I have spelled correctly)
I'm in the city of the winged elves. I can't see influence points with companions (as in NWN2) nor romance options. So, is it too early in the game, or am I missing something for the romance to start?
Thank you

It's still a little early. I don't want to give any of the story away, but just keep playing and keep your romantic interest with you. ;)

Hmmm, ok, I would not complain any more. I just hope the romance works. I've found some fixes around the net, but I am unable to install them because my game is not patched (and I can't patch it because... simply I don't know, the update process starts but stops immediately after few minutes) :-(

Have you tried running the critical rebuild, or just used the update button to patch? If you've only tried the update, then you probably will succeed with the critical rebuild. ;)

What is the critical rebuild? I sense this is an important question :-P

Hmmm, does it work also with the multilanguage game?

No.

For example, the Italian version can only be patched to v1.68, as can most other foreigns.

I'm guessing most of the community gives recommendations based on you owning an English version.  You can lump me into that group, as well.  Unfortunately, not as much development was done on foreign versions before BioWare stopped support.  Sorry for being the bearer of bad tidings, Vaalyah.

Don't worry, pupo, it is not a fault!

By the way, how am I supposed to patch the game, since the auto-patcher doesn't work and the critical build doesn't either?

A suggestion... this has gone too far off-topic so post in the Tech Help forum a new topic like "How do I patch the Italian version?" or something to that effect.  Include all the game information that is listed in the nwconfig.ini (just copy/paste it) in your post. We all would be pleased to help you resolve your patching issues there.  (You may even get replies from other running non-English versions there who don't check the campaign forums.)

This thread should really be limited to "Romance options?" discussion only.

Please.

Ok, ok, sorry, I went to far :-P

The problem is that I feel a bit silly in opening 300 threads for asking questions! :-D

Ciao Vaalyah. I don't know if you have made it to the third chapter of HotU yet, but there is one more romantic option depending on the sex of your character. I won't say anything more than that. Playing mostly guy characters, I really like Nathyrra and enjoy having her as my romantic interest.

Not yet. Today it's my birthday and I finally reached the computer about one hour ago. And I had so many posts and PMs and emails to answer, that I had not time to play at all. I am at the maker's island, stuck at the first floor...

I play a female character... by the way, my PC is a female drow, cleric of Eilistraee... and hearing all around tell me "you, creature of the surface" or "you don't understand our divinity" (speaking about Eilistraee) makes me a bit perplexed -_-'

In my party there are Deekin (he's adorable ^^ ) and Valen, because I like another character able to kill everything (while I tend to keep Deekin in safe places!)

Any suggestion?

PS: Nathyrra uses the same portrait as my PC... so having her in my party would have been... gross? :-P

Attendo suggerimenti! (trad: I am waiting for suggestions!)

Yes, in the context of a romantic interest, that would be gross, but if you played as if she was a lost twin sister, that would explain why you look exactly alike. I have never tried to use a sub-race in NWN1. Maybe I should. It would make a lot of sense to use a drow in HotU, wouldn't it? I've also never used Deekin as a henchman, so I might try that too. So will you try to make Valen your true love? lol.

Well, the problem is that in HotU, they don't recognize you as a drow. My PC is a drow cleric of Eilistraee and speaking with the... oracle? (is it the correct translation?) I had the option "are you worried because I am a cleric of another divinity?"

WHAT? I am a cleric of the same divinity!

So, drow or whatever else, I think you are going to get the same reactions :-(

You definitely need Deekin. I love the way he is quarrelling with innocence (false innocence? maybe) with everyone! :-D

In the English version of the game, the "oracle" is called the "seer". So you are saying that it won't make a difference if I play a sub-race? That sucks. I wonder why you are able to enter one at character creation. I have started a HotU with Deekin. My character is an fighter/arcane archer. I've never used a character with ranged weapon specialty. I prefer to walk up and hit them or roast them with spells. lol.

The fact that Deekin's doom song can bring an outsider like Valen to his knees begging for mercy is one of my fondest memories.  I think Deekin is wasting his potential merely buffing his allies.  That doom song could be even more devastating than his curse song! :P

@ UncleJoe: I am not saying that the seer don't make any difference in sub-races. I am saying that she doesn't make any difference also if you are a drow, a cleric, and, moreover, a cleric of her same divinity. That's really gross! O_O

My beloved Vaalyah is armed with 2 bastard swords... being the favourite weapons or her divinity ;-) And yes, she is extremely dangerous in meele!

@Hip: I haven't seen the doom song in action yet! :-(

Ok, finally, Valen declared himself to a shocked Vaalyah looking at him like she was thinking he was crazy. They had just spoken about 5 times, or better, he had narrated of his past life about 5 times and then he did his declaration.

I am always a bit perplexed about how romances are developed. And so now? End of the thing? When I am supposed to roleplay the romance if he declared himself and everything is ended?

Am I missing something?

Why not just string him along for a while? Events may transpire in the future to alter your decision. Besides, it's your innate prerogative as a female to manipulate things to your best advantage. No?
