To say the truth. No. I am an atypical female. My personality is more similar to those of men. I am totally unable in manipulating people!

However, of course I am not going to leave him in the middle of Cania, he is useful and powerful. I am just perplexed by the way romances go in videogames!

Okay, here it is.  (And yes, Valen's portrait is blank.  My HotU portraits are/were bugged:blink:)

Just before the end of the game, I had that dialogue too. The thing that I can't really guess is the reaction of Valen...

I had that conversation twice between Valen and Deekin. Near the end of the third chapter, I noticed that Deekin and Valen started rehashing their interactions from chapter 2. I thought it was funny.

I suppose it is due to the fact that they have to do some random dialogues and they simply "reroll" the one to do. Of course, the more you play, the more you have the probability that these dialogues repeat themselves! :-P

did anyone ever get the Valen floating dialogue when randomly exploring the Underdark? xD "I know of an exit to the surface nearby...we could...go *LOOK* for it, if you'd liiike,"

My boyfriend at the time was sitting with me. After hearing and reading the text he turned to me; "WTF was THAT???"

LOL.

Yeah, I did! I get that every time I'm wandering near the cave where you find Nasher's cloak.

I had searched it in my toolset and the Italian version is not funny at all :-( he simply says something like "over there you can find an exit for the surface". Just that...

Well, the dialogues in my game have been translated by professional translators. So I suppose that the meaning of the sentence is kept, but the joke has been lost in translation :-(

You won't be able access any campaign module via toolset until it loads in-game.  HotU is 3 different modules.

Is there a file somewhere in the directory I can edit to tell the game I played through it already, so I can, for example, start in X2 Chapter 2 instead of being forced to play through chapter 1...again >.>

Short answer: No. Bioware set it up to install this way with the campaigns. If you need a "why" answer you'll need to contact the designers. Now... if you happen to have a save available from a previous run through Ch 2... that may work. Maybe even have someone email you a save. I won't guarantee that will force the module to load, but it's worth a shot seeing as how you are desperate. The only other way is to use the console to skip through all the adventuring parts.

Reading another post in the general forum juggled my brain a bit...

If these were not written in the nwnplayer.ini when you installed the game, type them there yourself so you can start each chapter.  That will make those campaign modules available in the toolset:

under [Game Options]
CODEWORD=hacktastic
CODEWORD XP1=ffrodriguez
CODEWORD XP2=barkeater

Maybe because at the end of the game, Valen and Deekin are kind of friends at that point? I don't know, that's my guess.Posted Image

I can't understand why he got disappointed. Really. Deekin is an innocent soul, so he gives the most naive answer he could do. But at this point, Valen should had already known how Deekin is. So why he is so disappointed? What did he expected from Deekin's answer?

In Valen's worldview, the only way anyone can survive is to gain power through manipulation and force.  According to that worldview, an innocent and simple being, like Deekin, should have been destroyed by the powerful beings he's face long ago.

So under Valen's worldview, if Deekin has survived, that must not mean he is so simple and innocent after all- it must be an act covering up some sinister cunning.  Valen was expecting an answer from that revealed that the song was developed as part of a strategy to defeat enemies, something similar to one of Valen's stories about his fights with demons.  The fact that the Doom song sprung simply from an aesthetic choice by Deekin, rather than some sort of conniving calculation to destroy Deekin's enemies, challenges Valen's worldview.

Valen doesn't understand Deekin's true nature yet, because in Valen's worldview, it's just not possible for someone so simple and innocent to survive.  Part of Valen's disappointment in the answer is that the answer denies Valen's worldview, and may force Valen to reconsider whether everything he believes about existence is actually accurate.

This exchange ties into the romance between Valen and the player character, as one of the paths in the romance is to show Valen that there is more to existence than some eternal fight for power.

Wow, my thought was totally different.

At the end of the game, Valen and Deekin have a better relationship than this conversation suggests. The thing is, though, when this conversation triggers initially, during chapter two, the interplay makes sense in the span of their relationship. I mean, to Valen, Deekin is an annoying, tone-deaf kobold, right? HOWEVER, when it gets replayed later in the game, it no longer makes sense since Valen and Deekin are friends at that point. So... I kind of figured it's more of an issue of the conversation being replayed when it's no longer relevant, and not really something to do with Valen's worldview. Unless I'm misunderstanding your point, in which case, please explain!

@Mystery X: thank you very much, that does make sense! Since you are so good in explaining things, could you also explain to me the meaning of the dialogue between Valen and Nathyrra? That related to Valen's tail. I am unable to catch the meaning, I suppose due to a loss in translation...
