Hey.

After not playing the game for several years, I decided to finally pick up where i left off; the beginning of ToB.

I re-installed the game on my new laptop and copied over the savegames from my old computer.

However, when playing - whether its ToB, SoA or the original BG - my characters seem unwilling to attack anything. I'm also unable to interact with anyone (or anything) unless they approach me first, nor can i pick up any objects or open a chest.

I am not using any scripts for my characters.

What I have installed (in order) is:

1) The original Baldur's Gate.
2) Tales of The Sword Coast expansion.
3) Tales of The Sword Coast official patch (version 5512).
5) Baldur's Gate II.
6) Throne of Bhaal expansion.
7) Throne of Bhaal official patch (version 26498).
8) The BG2 Fixpack (from gibberlings3.net).
9) + their widescreen patch (I'm running the game in windowed mode btw).

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5741G, running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), with a GeForce GT320.

Any idea what might be wrong?

All input is greatly appreciated. <3

Did your old saved game have the exact same mod components you've installed on your current new installation?

That may be the issue, try starting a new game and see if the problem has resolved itself. If not then try uninstalling the widescreen patch.

Good guess, but I created a new game in both SoA and ToB with similar results.

I also tried uninstalling both the widescreen patch and the fixpatch, to no avail.

I will uninstall everything, do a raw, unpatched installation of the original Baldur's Gate, run a new game and see if i have the same problem. If that is the case, I'm guessing the problem must be hardware related.

Wow. I just found out what was wrong. It turns out i have to interact using my laptop's touchpad (double-clicking it), and not the buttons.

Silly me :)
