I think "Zero" has been miss spelled or is "Eezo" something new?

"Eezo" is the shortened form of "Element Zero".

At first I thought maybe what you suggest, KeeLoGee. But then why aren't the others shortened also.

Nom, some of the Codex information about Element Zero reveals that it's shortened to a common name of "Eezo". This is likely because "eezo" rolls off the tongue a lot better than "Element Zero". Palladium, Platinum and Iridium all are one-word elements that are easier to say.

So nope, it wasn't misspelled. But finding that information in the Shadow Broker's data files was a godsend for me, as I still had a couple upgrades I needed to do, and was running desperately low on that resource. :)

"Element Zero (...) also known as 'eezo', is a substance that..."

It's an in-universe abbreviation that is even used by characters in-game. Jaroth, the Salarian Eclipse leader on Garrus' recruitment, says it when talking about their operations on Omega. Something along the lines of "Eclipse keeps the Eezo running." .
