Hello,
I think bioware forgot to add the new Blue Screen Crash feature to the features list of patch 1.4

My game NEVER crashed before i install that useless 1.4 patch. Now when i teleport somewhere it crashes.
For example when darkspawn attack me when i travel in map. After i kill darkspawn and try to continue traveling, boom! game crashes and blue screen comes up. It's not special for just 1 scene, same happened when bandits attack too.

My system;
Intel core i7 920 2.67Ghz @ 4.0Ghz CPU
Gigabyte ex58-extreme motherboard
Asus nvidia geforce gtx465 (i dont play dragon age on 3d)
Creative 5.1 X-Fi
1600 mhz kingston ddr3 6GB ram (3x2gb)

Is there any way to remove that update? Without losing my save files?

Thank you.

Cue JackM: "have you installed any third party mods..."

First, it is the 1.04 patch, not the 1.4 patch.

Second, I've seen crash reports from many people citing many circumstances. I guess I'll preempt JackM's trademark question and ask if you have any third party mods installed and see if you've tried it without them, but that's not likely to fix the problem.

I don't personally play Dragon Age on a quad-core processor, and many of the crashing problems have reportedly been lessened by setting affinity to a single core. Other than that, your only option is to roll back to 1.02a by way of reinstalling Dragon Age and only updating to 1.02a. Bioware has not addressed these crash issues and has not communicated any plans to do so.

That's so customer friendly of them, isn't it?

I played this game rock solid forever, and I've got  a very high-end system.  I crash randomly now since 1.4, but mostly I crash when I activate stealth on my rogue.  I hit stealth, and I can tell it's going to crash 'cause the stealth just doesn't look right, and then CTD.

It's really annoying.  I've tried all the fixes I can find (affinity changing, sound off, updated ALL my drivers using Driver Max), and nothing fixes it.  Really tiresome and challenging my long-time love affair with Bioware.

Using the 1.04 patch I had to turn off the frame-buffer effects to stop the random crashes. The game will crash sometimes, but not as frequently as it did with the effects on.

I run vanilla DAO, recently updated to include Awakenings and applied the 1.04 patch. I now crash every 30 mins or so. I am running on a quad core. Looks like not enough testing was done to this patch - prior to this patch I have never crashed.

Running 3-day old purchase of DA:Ultimate Edition. Crashes regularly, especially when I stealth.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble.  We can help diagnose stuff like this, but it's best if you post in a new thread and include your system information.  You might also do a search for some related discussions.

EDIT:  If you have Ultimate Edition, it comes pre-installed with patch 1.04, so I wouldn't get too hung up on that as a cause.  It's most likely system or settings related.  :)

I tried Siradix's suggestion of turning off the frame buffer, and that solved the crashing problem in most of the early game. I am now in the mage tower, and once again encounter crashes every other battle or so. I am resorting to saving the game every few minutes so that when the inevitable crash occurs, I can reload. Will also add a post to this similar discussion:
