I am on the 4th chapter of BigWorld, heavily modded, Tactic installation.
My group:
Me,  Half-Orc, Warrior / Thief
Thorfinn, Human Barbarian
Khalid, Half-elf Warrior
Jaheira, Half-elf Warrior / Druid
Viconia, Drow Cleric
Edwin, Human Wizard

Now, in the dungeon of Firewine I met Indira, Half-Elf Warrior / Mage.
I am undecided whether to take her in the group (and later Yeslick, dwarf Warrior / Cleric) in place of Khalid and Jaheira.
Or always instead of Khalid and Jaheira, take Quayle (Gnome Cleric / Illusionist) and a pure warrior that could be Kivan example.

The goal is to have two divine spellcasters and two mage spellcaster

As per topic, what do you recommend?

Well, I've never particularly cared about Khalid and Jaheira (I like her in B2 though) so I'm a bit biased, but I never run them in my playthroughs anymore. Druids suffer from key low level spells being cleric only and don't get much meaningful in return (they make up for it in B2). Khalid's Strength leaves a lot to be desired as well.



I'd swap them, though I'm not sure whether Indira's stats are decent or not. I believe she comes with custom equipment including magical chain that she can wear without being unable to case spells.

Then F / M and F / C?

Therefore not a pure warrior and a C / M?



My concern is in this case to have only 2 tanks, Barbarian and me, while in the other options I'd have 3 tanks ...

Branwen and Yeslick are good tanks even as Clerics, Yeslick has the upper hand on Branwen though in terms of tanking. Even Viconia can be a good tank.

Quayle is alright, fairly decent Mage, but that side of him is drained by his poor Cleric side, he has the worst wisdom out of all the Clerics in the game.
Faldorn is an interesting alternative to the copious amount of Clerics in the game, but Druids can be a bit poor, and her stats really don't help her out. But whenever I take her I usually kit her into a Totemic Druid (who can wear Ankheg armour) or Avenger.

Maybe try dualing over Imoen into Mage? Or Safana with the tome of intelligence?

So in order of preference, I'd swap Jaheira for:
Yeslick/Branwen
Faldorn
Quayle/Tiax

As for Khalid, well, good tanks are Kagain and Shar-Teel, but if you're picking up either Yeslick or Branwen I wouldn't get another tank because they're both capable of tanking themselves.

Not to give TOO much away, but once you get to Cloakwood, you get some truly awesome druid-only items in a BWP-install....Personally, if i were you, i'd dump Khalid and get Yeslick. Yeslick will serve you better than Khalid.

In my style of play, I need 2 clerics. With only one cleric I don't have enough healing spells, I need to rest to heal too often.

I also believe that when, later, came the most challenging fights, two magicians who could hurl together Breach, Ruby Ray, and others can be helpful.

Not to mention the combo of spells possible with 2 mages.



I have already decided to abandon Jaheira and Khalid (if I drop one, also the other leaves me), but the question is always: it is better a warrior + one Cleric / Mage, or should a Warrior / Mage + a Warrior / Cleric ?

With uncapped XP tables, Quyale is like the best NPC in the game. (has more spells than Edwin). And Yeslick not far behind. In BG1 multiclass is always better than single class. So the choice would be Indira+Quyale ( F/M+C/M). And i would drop the barbarian for Yeslick. By Clangeddins beard!! (Beware of RPG loss though)

2 is enough. Cast hold person and nobody is moving anyway. A bunch of skeletons solves that problem too. But from the above ones, the left party is the better one. It has one more fighter, and these are much better at tankin and everything, as they can heal themselves or cast mirror image.

Edit: after edit the left party is even more powerful heh.

I chose the F - F - F / T - C / M - C - M solution

Also because when I'll have Sarevok, I'll give up a warrior, and I have both Thorfinn and him.

How is BigWorld dealing with Khalid's.. accident in BG2. In vanilla Khalid is better at everything than Kivan. So its mb time to send Jaheira on a suicide trip. I heard some mods make Kivan into an Archer subclass though.

Yes, with mods I installed Kivan is an archer, ranger kit.

Obviously the best warrior with bow and arrows I've met so far, but I have not met Coran and I do not know if mods have changed his stats ...



Khalid is a warrior so strong, but has no special feature, aside CON 17. For me as a pure warrior, there are many better than him ...

Khalid is a fighter so can get 5 stars in a weapon, unlike paladins, rangers and barbarians. With BG1 proficiency system thats an extra attack and lots of +dam +att.  In vanilla bg1 Khalid is a better archer ironically, if skilled so. But obviously cannot compare to an Archer Kivan, no argument here. Coran, i think he can only recieve a downgrade lol, he is an illegal char in so many areas.

With all the mods installed by BigWorld, i think that a group of a certain strength  should be something like this
