Hello

I play on mass effect 2 pc version (ea downloader) and i have never had any problem before .

After rolling a sentinel i noticed something annoying.

let me explain it shortly. When you face a hostile npc with a shield for exemple . You are not supposed to be able to use cryo blast on him or warp or throw.
 
I mean if you look on your "power / tech " spell ui, those spells are supposed to be surrounded with a red line. Or it seems my game does not make the difference anymore. I noticed this bug a few days ago after i installed Shadowbroker dlc. 
Same problem with any armored npc or any npc with a barrier on them and the spells you are not supposed to use

I tried to reinstal the game after keeping my save files but nothing has changed. 
does anyone have the same bug and can anyone help me?

Oh and sorry for my grammar / synthax . English isnt my native language.

I'm pretty sure you've always been able to use suboptimal. They will do only a bit of damage, and won't have secondary effects (like Throw tossing them or Incinerate setting them on fire) but you can still use them if you want to conserve ammo or something.



When you use Throw on a shielded enemy, are they actually thrown like they were unprotected or are they just damaged?

i am just talking about the red " color " surrounding the spell . they are not displaying properly anymore on my spells .

just take a look at this video and maybe you will see what i mean .



Notice his spell bar. On my game i do not have any red color surrounding my spells when i am not allowed to use them

Ah, my bad. I thought you meant this was more than just the cosmetic UI thing. That is annoying though.



Sorry I can't be of help, I don't have LOTSB yet so I can't compare. :/

How is that screenshot buggy?

Oh I see, the hotbar at the top isn't showing which powers are less effective on a target.  The lower power bar still does.  Hmm...

Have you tried respecialising your character? Go to Mordin's lab and research the 'retrain powers' ability.

I have not seen this problem on a computer with LotSB installed. When you say you reinstalled, did you uninstall first?

What files where left behind after the uninstall? Chances are the 'bug' is in one of these.

About the respec yeah i had that in mind at first. I tried to respec and to change my " loyality power " also and nothing happened. 

I think there is a corrupted file on my save game. This is the only file left when i uninstalled the game .
