I had to reinstall my Win7 64 OS, and all my games.
When I got to Dragon Age: Awakenings, it would fail to launch, and would throw up a dialog:
bla bla bla ... Physxloader.dll is missing, reinstalling the game may fix this problem... bla bla bla

Of course, re-installing the game will not help, nor will reinstalling the driver, because Physxloader.dll is as installed as it is going to get.

What WILL help, and won't force you to download or reinstall anything, is to locate the directory where NVIDIA installed the  physxloader.dll, and add that to your PATH environment variable.

On my Windows 7 64 system, that directory is:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Common

So you can jump through your Windows hoops to find the "Advanced System settings" dialog for your system, jump through more hoops to get to the "Environment Variables..." button, select the PATH environment variable from the list, click edit, and insert
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Common;
into the ugly long text that appears in the text box.
NOTE: The value above will be different, depending upon your OS!

If this is not clear enough, just google
Windows   Environment Variables
and you'll be fine.

Better yet, you can use the wonderful Rapid Environment Editor, launch it as Administrator, click the Path variable, then the  "insert value" button and put
%ProgramFiles(x86)%\\NVIDIA Corporation\\PhysX\\Common
anywhere you want to.

Good Luck!

Thanks a lot. Just had this problem and adding the command line to my Advanced System Settings fixed. (must add a ; before the command line and re-boot PC to take effect) - Running Win 7 64-bit as well.

I don't know why you would be having any problems with physx, just install it and go, you shouldn't have to mess around with environment variables. If you have ATI hardware, you can download the full physx installer from nvidia which will install physx for you. Sheesh, it's not that hard.

Not sure why. When installed some new Nvidia driver here, full install, PhysX failed to install. Stand alone wouldn't install because it detected a newer version. Reverting drivers didn't help. Trying to start DA:O gave me the physxloader.dll missing. Adding the line to my enviroment variables fixed it!
