I don't know what your all talking about. All this talk about Russian accents and Ukrainian accents and eastern European accents...Her accent is clearly a Quarian accent.

it's human nature to compare something alien with something you know, which is why we compare Talis accent with something we know.Posted Image

I honestly don't remember what fanfic it was, but a story I read recently put forth the idea of the different accents quarians have as translators giving quality to the fact that there's different dialects of Khelish being spoken, because the quarian people try to keep their culture from stagnating by keeping the dialects they originally had before the Morning War and which are spoken depending on what ship you're on. There's also a "common dialect" used for communication inter-Flotilla, but because of translators, they usually just default to their "native" dialects. I really liked that explanation for why they seem to all have different accents. I wish I could remember where I read it so I could give that author credit where credit is due.

One person found it funny anyway, now I can sleep.

I think it sounds really Russian/Ukrainian personally, same as Prazza's accent (which is totally Russian and sounds like Niko in GTA: IV).

Prazza shares the same VA with Zevran.

I'm Russian, and none of the quarians have a downright Russian accent. Hence why I was saying "Eastern European", which is more vague.

Also, I had no idea that Prazza was voiced by the same guy as Zev. Fun fact. I was aware that Liz invented the accent though, so it is most likely some kind of hybrid.

I want to see Tali's dance moves. You know in ME1 you could dance with Liara/Ash (probably Kaiden though I never played a femshep to find out), but in ME2 you couldn't any of your squadies. Perhaps having seen Shepards moves they were too embarrassed to be seen with you.

The universal translators are already a little "magical" in that they can translate anything we ever hear t in real-time. I figured that if these things are powerful enough to do that, then they can simulate, based on how Tali pronounces Khelish for example, how it would sound if she spoke English.

Edit: Liz is a professional dance-choreographer I believe, she needs to do some motion-capped Tali dances.

You know, in animation they actually video the voice actors saying their lines and add some of the facial features and body movements into the animation itself. I've wondered if the Bioware developers ever did something similar, but perhaps that's too much trouble for just a game. Still, it would be interesting if some of Tali's movements were modeled after what Liz Sroka was doing in the booth.

She has a picture on her fanpage that shows her in a recording booth (presumbably voicing Tali) and it looks like she is screaming in rage about something.

Probably for Lia'Vael's sidequest. Or they just told her to redo all of the Saren lines.

The embarrassed Talihands Posted Image It would be fun if she really did that.

I also love Tali's idle animation, where she does this semi-nervous, semi-impatient jumping up and down. I doubt that Sroka was doing that in the booth though.

Concerning the dancing...Shep really downgraded his/her dance moves in between the two games. Guess Project Lazarus didn't work out 100%. But yeah, if ME2 was the only thing to go by, I'd definitely be embarrassed to dance with Shep. Couldn't blame Tali if she thought the same.

Shepard got worse at dancing, he needs some privat dancing lesson from Tali.

Shepard is the most boring man in the galaxy. What Tali sees in him I have no idea.

He's gotten better since LotSB, though.

But I know that she isn't interested in him because of his dance moves, that's for damn sure.

The only example we have, sadly, is the snippet of her in the Meet the Cast video.  And it looks like she's holding the script in that one.

Heroism.  Acceptance.  Support.

Probably other stuff, too.  But from her dialogue, those.

I do believe those three main items you listed NuclearBuddha cover most of her reasons quite well.  Though I would change the order somewhat putting Acceptance first and Heroism last.  :)

Well you can be sure it isn't Shepard's ability to dance that attracts her. :?

It's the arms and shoulders. Seriously, did you see the arms quarian males have?
Like damned string.

But yeah, acceptance mainly, heroism too (her "I've watched you for so long" speech definitely indicates this), but also a lot of trust built over time. Trust is an exceptionally large part of her character and romance.

Hence why I hate it when people ship Tali with anyone other than Shepard, she clearly states she'd never trusted anyone other than him/her enough to actually show her face. (Yes, I'd definitely support Tali showing her face to femShep at some point. Like Shala linking up with Tali's mom.) To destroy her character character like that just to hook her up with the likes of Kal would be disrespectful to the material BioWare provides you with. (Not to mention there's something called friendship, too. But apparantly a female and male can't be nice to eachother without there being some sort of sexual tension.)

Yeah, I was a bit confused the first time I played ME2 and she had nothing to say about Legion. I was wondering if I needed to have her on the Reaper mission or something.

She argues against bringing Legion back with you if you take her on that mission.

Yeah, but so does Garrus, for example. I'm sure other squaddies object as well (eg. Miranda, who also objects on the ship afterwards). I really think Tali should've had more specific dialogue with Legion. Yes, her LM is very different if you bring it along, but I was very disappointed not to see any unique dialogue when I brought her on its LM. If anything, that's the mission that would've given her perspective on geth and made her more amenable to giving it some info to send afterwards. I always bring her along anyway, from a purely RP perspective, but it would've been great to see more interaction between them, considering the importance of the geth/quarian conflict in the ME-verse as a whole.

...

I also like that Tali "grew up" in between the two games. Idealism is all well and good, but when reality turns out to be less than ideal, it's good to see her own up to it. Shows that she's able to evolve.

To go back a bit on the accents, it is also perfectly possible that the various actors were simply unable to replicate Sroka's accent. But none of them has a French accent, that's for certain (*points at Leliana* that's a real French accent). Rael didn't strike me as sounding German either, but then again, we never heard him in person. Tali's accent itself sounds like an odd mix between something Eastern European (without being proper Russian) and Middle-Eastern.

I've taken a few different team combos on the derelict reaper mission, and Tali's objection at least seemed pretty unique.

(Took Zaeed for the first time last night, and his comment on Legion -- "Never seen one of these that wasn't blown to pieces before, might want to mount it on the wall." -- was priceless.)

I think I agree, however, that she should have been in the post-mission discussion.  I would have liked to see extra content in general so that the two characters who went on each mission were usually in on that discussion, instead of just Jacob, Miranda, and the occasional Mordin.

I've always taken Tali along on Legion's LM, so I have no idea what other characters have to say at the moments she makes comments.

as Tali said " A dasing commander who let her join his crew then goes of to save the galaxy. how can she develop any kind of interest for him," in other words what a way to sweep a girl of her feet.

Without sexual tension ginned up out of nothing or out of hair-brained ideas like "if they act like they hate each other, it's really love", you'd elimated the basis of half of all the fanfic ever written.  Posted Image

I'd like a DLC involving Tali and Legion, and their growing friendship.

And no, it doesn't have to be about the quarian/geth situation. Think outside the box.

Judging how popular Ms. Vas Normandy is with the fanbase it isn't hard to imagine gamewise that there is a long line of potential Quarian suitors who are pretty pissed that a Human scored one of the migrant fleet's most wanted bachelorettes. I can imagine ol' Kal is polishing his rifle just waiting for Shepard to mess things up with Tali.

Besides acceptance, support, and heroism I would say  Tali is really big on loyalty at least for paragon player. Shepard has gained her trust and she points it out anytime you risk losing it.
