I tried to draw Tali unmasked and I envisioned her with penguin-like feathers in place of hair. Too bad I'm a horrible artist. I kind the impression that Quarians have a mix of avian/humanoid features.

Whether are not people like it, Tali is a part of the story and she isn't going anywhere unless you specifically make it that way. I too hope that we don't get shunted back to neutral, but I've got high hopes for the third installment.JediSoth wrote...
I just hope ME3 doesn't make me start over with Tali (or takes her away completely) and lets me do even more to help her and the Quarians. I'd love for a sub-plot of that game to include some sort of reconciliation between the Quarians and the Geth, especially if Shepard and Tali are instrumental in that.
Then you deserve some kind of award for being a space monk. But that's not really a discussion for this thread.Mesina2 wrote...
Why?
What if you didn't do any romance in previous games?
Or to start romance with someone from ME2 in ME3? Like Samara?
Would a lead-in to the romance dialogue for Tali in ME3 make sense if you didn't pick her in 2? They could just recycle some of animations and conversations from ME2, with dialogue adjustments, and replay them if they were so inclined. Her feelings for Shepard wouldn't have changed if you did her loyalty mission, treated her well, and didn't romance anyone else. Isn't it possible to tell her something to the effect of "Yes I have feelings for you, but it'll need to wait until after this mission, then we can see where it goes," and she acts receptive to the idea?NuclearBuddha wrote...

Tali's one of my favorite characters in the ME series (Garrus, too). I really identified with her romance arc in ME2. Having had my trust betrayed in my first marriage, it's something I place a LOT of emphasis on in my real life relationships. Having gone through 3 deaths in my family from Nov. 2008 - Nov. 2009, I think, helped me really empathize with her loyalty arc, as well. (Yeah, good job tugging at my heart strings, there, Bioware. I get much more emotional about stuff like that now than I used to...Tali's father and Arl Eamon's son.)
She's a flawed character that grows and changes through both games (and I presume will continue to do so in ME3), achieving a level of character development some major motion picture characters would envy. Of course, characters have always been one of Bioware's strengths.
I didn't even feel like I was cheating on Liara to romance Tali. After all, she was very detached and professional to me when we were reunited on Ilium (aside from the greeting kiss); I felt like she's moved one. Besides, asari believe in cherishing the time you have with someone and not dwelling on the past and such, due to their long lifespans.

That would be a possibility, I guess. I was assuming what was meant was a whole new romance with a whole new character, though. But if you want to 'mance that Tali... uh... why wait?Volrath937 wrote...

In terms of development, it's not any of the characters that first appeared in ME2 because there hasn't really been enough time to show any significant sign of development. Therefore, I vote for Tali, Liara, and perhaps Garrus.
You asked for my honest opinion; here it is. And this is coming from someone who romanced Ashley and Thane and is in desperate love with both of them.

I'd disagree. She's got some daddy issues, but that's hardly an indictment of her character. Family is important, and she craved his approval.Eldareus wrote...
I really don't see Tali as a flawed character. She's definately has a race issue with the Geth, but that is understandable. Despite having a neglectful Father, she didn't have the same Daddy issues like Miranda. She knew her Father loved her it's just her Father was not the type of person who could express it on emotional/affectionate level. She is a very intelligent and capable person who lacks a little confidence in the romance department and may not have neccessary traits for being a good leader, but otherwise she has a dependable, stable, and loyal personality.
I too hope Tali remains a big part in ME3 and not reserved to a cameo appearance like Liara or Ashley. That would suck.

Man, I love taking Tali and Garrus to the Spectre induction scene in Mass Effect. Just so the two who stick by you for two games were there to witness it.
Or were flat-out trolling. It's unfortunate, because there was some good discussion in there as well.FieryPhoenix7 wrote...

I think a lot of those who got butthurt didn't really understand the question in the first place.
I usually just take Tali's Presidium comment as part of that scene. Heh.Someone With Mass wrote...
I just wish they had soemthing to say about Shep being reinstated as a Spectre in ME2.

To be honest, topics like that almost never end well. I could compile an infinite list of reasons, but I'm sure you know what I'm getting at.NuclearBuddha wrote...

About how it wasn't so far from there that they met for the first time.Someone With Mass wrote...
What was that again?
It'd be kind of weird to have Tali completely non-receptive to a relationship in ME3 if you didn't do anything to set her off in ME2, her feelings would still be there. I'm talking more from a story perspective than mechanics, I know you can switch to Tali at any point as long as you meet the prerequisites.NuclearBuddha wrote...

Anyway, the "I don't want to risk your health" line is what you might be thinking of. The "I don't want to risk the mission" brings down the fury. The "health" thing has been debated before, and my position is that the wait-and-see approach is pretty silly when you might die on a suicide mission in a couple hours.
