Me neither. I pulled both of them out of the fire and I just got to chat with them later. Probably cause I took Paragon dialogue all that time, I dunno

You have to pick the "Rally the crowd" option (IIRC, it's either upper right or middle right). Ie. not the upper left Paragon option. I only did it once because I wanted to hear the dialogue, then reloaded. You simply miss out on too many Paragon points if you don't pick the blue option. Same goes for Renegade I imagine. And considering you need all the morality points you can get to solve the Tali vs Legion fight later on...

you have to use the rile up the crowd response but you only get it after talking to the admirals before you leave to clear the ship.

The cool part about the trial is that Shepard's dialog completely changes if you never spoke to the admirals.

I still prefer to an informed argument to a blind one lol

Ok, so you gain the same score for using the Charm/Intimidate options and rallying the crowd. That's good to know. If I do another playthrough, I might just go for the rally option.
