Using the display system in the helmet as a constant light source would explain why the brightness of her eyes is so consistent. No other light source matters nor effects them.PlAgu3 666 wrote...
But cat's eyes take ANY light and they become bright. Have we ever seen Tali in complete darkness? No, so we can't say for sure what causes the 'glowing' effect.

The books state that the masks increase their visual and auditory acuity. The only way this makes any sense is if an enhanced projected image is displayed on the faceplate. This, going along with the theory that other vital information about the suit is displayed as well, leads me to believe the light is enough to cause said reflection.PlAgu3 666 wrote...
I don't remeber the codex or novels stating that they have a HUD of any kind. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'd like to state that LotSB left me with a better impression of Liara, but that it also reaffirmed the choice I made RE: Tali. That was excellent writing on BW's part. The fact that they gave props to everyone's favorite quarian was a further sign they're doing all the right things.
And I love her and her drone!

It is, to date, the most detailed and widely approved of piece of artwork. I don't really happen to like it myself, but I am in awe at the effort put into it and the result achieved.Fancando wrote...

Artistically its good, but it just lacks any creativity on the design of her face.

It's got creativity. The placement of the cybernetics (and creation of them to begin with) is better than I can do.GodWood wrote...

Im afraid i must disagree Rune, three wires on her forehead doesnt make her look any less like a human.
Artisticly its brilliant, but its probably my least favorite design. Shes an alien, seperated from earth by thousands of lightyears. There is no reason she should look exactly like a human.

Should also point out that the entire mask should come off, not just the faceplate. There are a lot of things wrong with it, but its still nice. Prefer your concept over it, though. Made #2 on my list.Toshikii wrote...
I like that Tali. Not my favourite, but in my honest opinion, she looks good. I would love to see her without the helmet though, because it hides a lot of revelating areas of the jaw that could help to get a better image of what the artist was thinking.

I like the facial markings around the eyes, chin , and cheeks. I also like the paleness of her skin and sickly lines. I don't like her eyes, nose.
I really like the eyes and nose on this picture, but feel the face looks too human. Hats off to the artist on this though. Really beautiful likeness.
I am really envious of both artists.

I'm currently replaying ME1 again (insanity level) and will then move on to ME2 once more. It has been a while since I played ME1 last and I notice a few things. Tali: in ME1 she is distinctly NOT particularly attractive on the physical front. I note that her hips are abnormally out of proportion to the rest of her. At first I thought it was that her avatar was created with an abnormally broad set of hips but when you look at her next to either Ash or Liara (EXACT same bods, different faces) you can see that Tali's hips are only slightly broader than Ash's/Liara's (due to the wide gap, no doubt, between Tali's legs). I also note that Tali's shoulders are not any narrower than Ash's/Liara's. Thus, the oddity of her form is almost exclusively due to her extremely narrow waist. Now Tali doesn't appear so...oddly disproportioned in ME2 so all I can assume is that they narrowed her hips slightly by toning down the gap between her legs and/or broadened her waist to be more human-normal (for a healthy/thin woman) and THIS makes her hips appear more normal and appealing in proportion.
I hadn't remembered how well you could make out Tali's face in ME1 either (vs the virtual impossibility of making anything out in ME2). Her eyes are clearly extremely slanted and her mask color is much less blue/purple in ME1 (more brownish/purple).
I've romanced Tali on two of my ME2 playthroughs but now that I'm playing ME1 again, I can say that it wouldn't happen at all if Bioware had left her disproportioned as she was in ME1. They clearly made her more normal human attractive for ME2.

Play through ME1 again. You can quite clearly (enough) make out Tali's face to see that her nose is not small/petite and her eyes are VERY clearly slanted to the extreme.
