To bring up another topic: In regards to the Quarian slave on Illium, what do you think Tali would do if she was in Shepard's shoes? I don't really understand the quest myself lol

Good question. Dunno. I guess she would be upset seeing another Quarian in that situation. I should bring Tali along next time, and see how she reacts.

The whole slavery thing ('indentured servitude') is something I don't really get from an enlightened species as the Asari to begin with. In fact, I don't get Ilium in general: located inside the Terminus system, supposedly the armpit of the universe, it appears to be the most modern, fancy city in the entire Mass Effect galaxy.

Were she in Shep's shoes, I doubt she would have the same tact. My shepard persuaded through the situation, Tali just isn't that good at persuasion.

Dunno about that per se. Tali may not have the big Paragon options, but I think Tali is very persuasive. She's strong and kind at the same time. And she's an absolute model representative for her people: if all Quarians were like her, I'm sure they wouldn't be treated as lowly scavengers, like they currently are. When we first meet Tali, she's like only 19. So, some high-strong teenage stuff is to be expected. But, on a whole, I say she's very tactful and persuasive.

Also, keep in mind, Tali is not a Commander, nor a Spectre: she simply cannot invoke the kind of authority Shepard commands -- for that reason alone. Part of being Tali means not letting people walk all over her: born from the mere necessity of having to live a life of always being in survival mode. Doesn't necessarily mean she uses a big gun to solve all her disputes.

Tali doesn't react much. She will help you persuade the buying Rep that if she buys the quarian's contract, then frees her as a PR move, the Flotilla would be willing to purchase more from that company in the future. As I recall, she doesn't actually have anything to say about the indentured servitude itself (which is different than slavery, particularly the way the asari are doing it on Ilium). It's a damn sight better than what batarians would offer, that's for sure.

And, it gives Shepard a chance to help another quarian on pilgrimage. That up the count to 4 for my Shepards.

If I remember right, Tali has additional dialog when approaching the asari who is the synthetic insights rep. When Shepard makes his paragon approach about buying the quarian's contract, freeing her, and garnashing her wages in repayment, Tali mentions that the flotilla would be appreciative and be more inclined to buy from synthetic insights. If you go the renegade route and accuse the rep of racism, Tali says something in the line of threatening to park the whole migrant fleet in orbit around sythetic insight's headquarters.

I just though I'd share this theory with you guys.
I'm not 100% sure how I came up with this theory but...
I think that Quarians (At least female ones) have some sort of secondary vocal unit, like secondary vocal cords or something, that would emit a sound similar to a cats purr, but much lower pitched and slightly rumbley. Something that dated back to before they had technology and that ability may have been lost due to lack of use and that Quarians who retain this ability are helf in higher regard than other Quarians. I believe that Tali is one of those Quarians but she didn't know she was until Tali and Shepards... encounter... in the captains cabin of the SR2.
I'm just wondering what you guys (and girls of course) think of this. Its only a theory, I may work it into a fanfic If I ever get round to actually writing more than a paragraph.

Anyone?

I like said theory, but am not sure I believe it. Cool theory though.

I don't really see what you're getting at, and personally I don't think a genetic abnormality would cause a quarian to be held higher than everyone else.

I don't remember hearing any purring in the romance scene, but I do remember the sound of lips.

No purring.

Purring? You're probably thinking of Garrus.

Quick question, does anyone here know what Tali says in regards to the rachni is Liara is in the party? ME1 has a weird morality system where each squad mate must make a case for each side of the argument, but i don't know if Tali or Liara will take the paragon route here. I'm curious because I won't bring Tali to Noveria if she sides with killing the rachni because that's not normally something she would say IMO.

Tali says that it would be better for the galaxy to destroy the rachni.

Liara is higher on the "paragon scale" than Tali, so Liara would go with the paragon route.

With that said, I don't know what Tali would say. I imagine something like "are you sure this is a good idea?" since most of the time, even her 'renegade' comments aren't all that renegade. :P

Anyway, how about just not taking Liara? I don't remember her presence making any real difference aside from an extra line or two of dialog. I suggest this because I'm a strong supporter of Tali on Noveria.

In fact, take Wrex too.

He gets really pissed if you decide to save the Rachni.

^I want to Take Tali but when I hear Benezia is there I feel obliged to bring Liara along considering it's her mother and all, it just seems like the right thing to do. Eh, I take Tali everywhere anyway, I'll give her a chance to rest while we're on Noveria ^_^

Actually,

"Look. Those tanks? Acid. Strong enough to kill anything, no matter its biology. They wouldn't have installed that if they weren't afraid of the consequences of her getting loose."

A simple statement of fact, and a caution.

Yeah, that sounds right. Tali's 'renegade comments' usually aren't very renegade.

I like it in 1 when you choose to save the Destiny Ascension and she says "I hope the council appreciates this". It sounds soooo bitter. I like it.

Ohhh looks like I will be taking her along :). Her line when encountering the guards is cute, though her VO was much more dodgy in ME1 where she's near perfect ine ME2. Tali lost her accent on Therum today lol it didn't even sound like her.

*deleted* Question answered^_^

That side comes out more in the second game. Like when she threatens the volus on the Citadel.

I like tali's occasional renegade tendencies, they make her a more interesting and dynamic character. Nonetheless she'll always be number 2 in my book ^_^. I have high hopes that her romance is rightfully concludedin ME3.

She never actually threatens him.

She says she wants to mess with his suit's air filters, but that's not really a threat. And it's pretty harmless anyway--it's not like she threatens him with physical violence.

And really, he says some really nasty things. She's to be commended she doesn't just kick him or something. :P
