Another nice find Rune.

As for the Purging it is likely a laxitive is required to purge the contents after sampling the food. The bad news is with a proper laxitive not the over the counter kind which would be needed to properly purge the system leaves you not feeling so well and is at times painful. Had a relative have a colonoscopy done, the day before their scan they had to take a powerfull laxaitive and well they said after the tenth time heading to the bath room in a couple hours they where in pain.

Thank you for this! Obviously a lot of hard work went into taking those models apart. Hugely helps me visualize how BioWare might potentially see the quarians and Tali. Mind you, I don't think we'll ever get a fully rendered face (though I hope we do).

This is sort of a joint venture with Thundertactics... With him doing most, if not all of the hard work... and me just... sort of lending support or comments...

Well; here's my pics:

Edit: this next one seems to have caused some confusion, the placeholder face has been taken from the generic female quarian model in the background.

A few hours, though we've been concentrating on texturing the generic quarian, that's more of a challenge.

You might not get a fully rendered face in-game (perhaps ever), but the face in my last image does come from the generic female quarian in ME2. Yes, the whole face, jaw included.

I'm not sure if BioWare is going to change this design. They probably will, so most of this will be for naught. But, for me (not sure about Thunder) it's been more fun than anything else.

The details on texturing the generic quarian are another thing entirely though;

The standard Tint map needs to be combined with other maps and also recoloured:
Posted Image

This is Shala's model.
Posted Image
Identical to every other generic quarian, but we simply used the RGB Tint to recolour it.

The details are more complicated, so it's best to leave it there. This isn't really a modding thread anyway.

But it was simply interesting to find the faces. And since Tali is missing part of hers, I wanted to switch it... to get a better view. Still, it's only a placeholder, but it does make me wonder why they designed the lower half. Mainly for the fact that it's never seen, so what's the point?

Also; If I may: Any comments or "thank you"s may be left on Thundertactic's blog, since this is mainly his research, with me helping. If you found this subject interesting and want to say thanks, leave a comment on his blog. It'll make him feel good too.

Does Tali's legs flex between her knee and toes? I don't think I noticed any in the pounce gif. Do we know anything about Quarian bone structure?

Trust me, I have watched those legs moving :) and I have not seen any flex between knee and ankle. Of course, there could be another joint hidden in the shin guards but that would make no sense. It would limit their natural movements and make walking, or pouncing, rather difficult.

The shins just appear to have a curve to them. Maybe to help their toe bounces?

They also don't walk/run like they have an extra joint in their leg. Tali moves heel-toe.

Quarians legs are not double jointed, and they're not digitigrades. They just have curved shin bones. End of story! :P

Well, intercourse isn't impeded by that much. More curves = more aesthetically pleasing.. imo. Tali delivers for sure.

Quite.

We have no real information on their bone structure, though we can at least infer that it is somewhat denser than humans. Or maybe that was the muscles... I can't remember. You'll have to ask those more knowledgable than I.

Also; for more visualisation:

Hoodless Tali:

Posted Image

Still has the helmet and visor, due to the fact that the back of her head isn't complete.

I have to say -to me anyway- the neck looks longer than it did before, now that the hood is removed.

I think it was either Rip or Thunder that came up with a logical theory for that. I seem to remember, though don't quote me, that it was both Muscle and bone. Something to do with the likely evolution on a planet that likely had higher gravity or denser atmosphere... Though I can't remember exactly...

Would hope so. That'd look a bit odd to have a completely flat back side of the helmet with the hood pushing out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware already have designs for Tali's face.

Bioware better watch out. The way this thread is progressing (at least over the last few pages) seems to lead to only one conclusion: We will know more about Quarian physiology than they will.

They supposedly already know what she looks like, if we are to accept the word...

I wouldn't be surprised either.

Unless, of course, they're waiting for someone to come up with a reasonable design? There are quite a few floating around on dA... So who knows...

Heh... Somehow I doubt that we, as the end user, know more about the quarians than the developers... but wouldn't that be awesome if we were one step ahead of BioWare? But honestly, this game has been pretty well thought out on the scientific side of things, so I doubt that's the case.

But it is interesting to speculate, take this for example:
Quarians and the colour purple - by Thundertactics

He explains that their eyesight may be in the infrared zone, due to the size, age, and colour of the star in which Rannoch orbits.

There are numerous other examples of speculation like this.

The walking animations in Mass Effect are horrible. Watch Tali stomp around for no reason in one conversation, or Femshep stomping around in her heels.

I'm fairly sure that they have at least concept art for her face. Some I bet that dates back to pre-release of ME1.

No, not we as the end user, but we as in the collective.
The sheer amount of data on the Quarian race by Thundertactics alone is boggles the unaided mind.
I get the feeling that they are watching these threads intently for new information for them to use.

Actually, it's hard to make out for certain. Sometimes Tali's shin bones look almost human (but more curved); at other times, it almost looks like Quarians *do* have double-jointed legs:

She's also floating in that image. It's just bad animation.
