Anderson's logged communications always refer to "him" regardless of Shepard's gender. I'm betting someone just wasn't reading closely enough.
This is often the best course to take when it comes to these things.
Bioware's cross-checking and continuity control isn't always the best, and sometimes they let things in "for the lulz" that don't actually make much sense.

Given how much stuff in the dossiers dealt with serious issues, I'd argue that a lot of it was meant to be taken seriously (some of the videos included).Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...
I think what you say makes perfect sense Nilf. This is how I chose to interpret the dossiers as well. The problem is that if they were supposed to be mostly funny then I think they were tasteless. I choose to think they weren't.
And with Grunt, I died laughing that he managed to finish the Old Man and the Sea. Only a krogan. I loved Grunt's dossier. I thought it was the funniest of the lot. But I really like Grunt. Legion is interesting, but Grunt I actually like.
I didn't find Tali's suit log insulting at all, and I think Nilf hit it right on the head. It was her experimenting with being selfish, and maybe a symbol of her back-and-forth "does he really like me?" courtship with Shepard.

I dunno. I thought they were pretty in-depth. It didn't seem like something a bunch of people just pulled out of their butt in a five minute brainstorm session. I do think the actual execution of the data was sorta weird in some places though. And I think the lack of dossiers for some characters is actually telling, but that's another subject and OT to boot.
I really think an error somewhere is causing the suitlog to display for every Shepard. And not just for the Shepards who romanced Tali.

The letter she tried to write was sad, the log, childish.
On the same note, Jack's poetry?, Miranda dating? All aimed at making us laugh at the characters for no better reason than just to laugh. I found all that had no place in a game that was more about emotions than any real content to the game itself.
I think you're taking things way too seriously.

I think the fact that Tali only installs it after joining the Normandy (the logs start with her preparing for Haestrom and follows a chronological order) is a good indicator that it was primarily because she was wanted to entertain the idea of maybe something happening with Shepard. If she wanted it for masturbation (which of course, is a perfectly normal), she could've easily just had it installed before; there was no reason for her to install it only after joining the Normandy.
The fact that she keeps uninstalling and reinstalling it, is something I actually find very sad. It's very clear to me it's initially the result of that internal conflict of hers of wanting to be with Shepard, but believing it wasn't possible.
When she installs that final Deluxe version, it's after she's been intimate with Shepard. And now that she's together with him and there's no more doubt in her mind, she keeps it installed so that the two can have some safe-sex fun.

However since she is not interested in femshep why does the suit log show up like that? Maybe it was meant only to show up like Thane's letter to Siha (was very sad to me) but is bugged. Maybe Tali has a thing for fem shep and that will show up in ME3?
Who knows, I did like it. Although Grunt's and Legion's dossiers were my faveourites.
Tyrannasourus Wrex.... ha.

At worst it implies that she has normal 'needs' for an adult.
Can it be a little humorous? Sure. Should that be insulting? Not anymore than Grunt's silly extranet searches or Garrus' visor playlist should be insulting.

You may be right. I think it would be much more meaningful if only people who romanced her got it. Of course, than everybody else would be whining that Tali got exclusive LI dossier stuff while their LI didn't even though that's perfectly in character for Garrus, say. And the Thane letter also makes sense for him. Femshep getting the same suit log as dudeshep is buggy or at least kinda weird. I can explain it if I have to (and I do because I was playing femshep) but it doesn't mean that my initial reaction wasn't "Huh?"

I guess it's because some people are seeing Tali as a precious flower. Or can't just take it that it's BioWare's creation, and they have right to make things a little fun.
I didn't find any of her logs to be insulting, (maybe a little childish) I thought they removed some of those off-screen moments, like when Tali tried to write those mails to that quarian soldier's family. Giving a clearer image of what Tali is doing when she's not cleaning engines. It adds content.

Well, that's personal enough I don't claim to have a really good answer. Maybe she has hang-ups. Maybe she's having data fragmentation issues. Maybe she's abusing the free trial offer and finally splurges on the Deluxe edition. Million and one reasons that aren't immature giggling. Her having nerve stem that she keeps uninstalling and reinstalling
It's a Courtship and Mating educational video. If you need to spin it, she's trying to figure out if the engineers are a couple without just flat asking them.and watching vids about human mating while playing as femshep is kinda weird though

well Tali was intended to be a LI for FemShep too but was later cast aside or maybe BW hasn't giving up on the idea yet.Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...

I agree. On the disc and in the game are not the same thing.

That said i don't see what the issue is, its just masturbation. She lives her whole life in what is essentially sensory deprivation, I'd be more concerned if she didn't have the simulators.
As for the female Shepard getting the message, it doesn't have to mean shes attracted to her (though i don't see the problem with that either), it could always be interpreted as her just finding human males attractive. Considering how obsessive we Tali fans are, that could have just been Bioware's little gift to the male players (i.e. Hey, you would have a shot!).

This is unfortunate sometimes, since otherwise we'd know that turian females don't have "funny bumps."Ragabul the Ontarah wrote...

But not in this case. Cut dialogue is cut for a reason.

Exactly - Tali's actions are indicative of desires most adults feel. That she is stuck in her suit is only further evidence that this behavior is not weird. The fact that she uninstalls the program after her Father dies is logical as many people lose sex drive or feel depressed after a tragedy. Just because she wants her relationship to be ""real" with Shepard doesn't mean she expects skin to skin to be the norm. She needs to stay healthy to continue with daily miliatary operations and although I think they sometimes break out the immunoboosters, largely the physical aspect of their relationship is through Nervestim pro. Thats the problem with being a Quarian - that is just another reason to want to get their homeworld back.
