I'm not sure if this was posted before but does anyone know what Tali's name means?

I looked it up in a dictionary and it gave me that its the plural of talus.

It's definition:

"bone in ankle: the bone in the ankle that connects with the lower leg bones to form the ankle joint"

Do you guys think Bioware was aware of this?
If anyone is interested I'll continue to post other definitions/periods where the word Tali is involved.
It may give us a clue to what she looks like or even what the pattern on her hood means.

Intresting info indeed.
Also Tali in Sindhi means:Rising star,rising. :)

Now that is intriguing. Fits well with Tali, actually. Especially if she eventually becomes an admiral.

I would think that the more likely scenario is that there's no particular meaning for the name besides it's being akin to the quarian language and culture. That just said, if there is one in-lore, it would be nice to learn the meaning of Tali's name in ME3. Perhaps if we romance Tali and go back to the Flotilla, we may be told by Shala or something.

This is true, but then again writers love symbolizm. It could be some really obscure thing or just a name they made up and thought it sounded good... which it does ;)

I do see what you mean Collider, but it seems the Tali fanbase has come to the conclusion she doesn't want to be an admiral... but that is not in our power to say. It is very possible it can stand for something esle though...

I would personally like it, and in my opinion, it's been foreshadowed.
Tali herself for the most part puts her people before her own desires. It's part of her selflessness and dedication. It's very admirable.
As far as standing for something else, I think one can look at ME1-ME2. Even if she doesn't become an admiral, she's increasingly becoming a more important player among her player and the galaxy in general.

It's not just fanboys conclusion... she's quite explicit about her opinions on Quarian politics... but she might choose to become an Admiral if that will helps Shepard in the Reapers's War (in the same way Liara accepted to become the new SB), or if the other quarians desperately asks for her help, but she's a warrior more than a leader, and there're a lot of proves about that.

Also... rising star... simple but poetic ^^

You ever wonder how they decided for the pose in the litho?

BW: Eh, just make it sexy. Maybe with the hips? People seem to like that.

Artist: ...Okay.

Going back to the name discussion, earlier was said Tali was a herbrew name so I went to look it up. Said the base was Talia, meaning 'dew of god'.

I pretty much consider it a piece for the talimancers.

The Thane one could be for general fans and "thanemancers" both.

The one that sell out the fastest is the one that has no action or guns in it. It is glorious

That's a pretty good insight.  The Miranda one is an action pose, by comparison.

Yep.
May have been a good idea to have had a more general piece of artwork for Tali, because there are female fans (or peeps who like her but don't romance her), but I'm not complaining with what they cooked up. It looks very nice and tasteful.

I thought the her lithograph suited her a lot. Because unlike a lot of the characters, Tali is probably the least likely to be stuck in a combat situation. Except for maybe Mordin.

What career path do you think Rael had in mind for Tali? [/quote]

To be either the top engineer on whatever ship she served on (or the entire fleet), or to assist him in taking back the homeworld with the whole geth experiment. She had military training, couldn't say for sure what he had in mind for her. Then there is the path of wanting her to become a leader among her people, such as an admiral or captain.

Whatever the case, she follows Shepard's path now. The Reapers > whatever her father had planned; her goals.
