Quarian eyes always seemed a bit too bright to be considered a reflective shine imo. I think bio luminescent eyes fits better. I did notice on male quarians it seems the entire eye glows and on females the iris glows a bit more brightly than the rest.

I hope you can see how having flashlights in your eyes could make things difficult.

It would probably suck in a movie theater.

"Turn those flash lights off!"
"They're my eyes Bosh'tet!

Well I guess it wouldn't be as bright as a geth's flashlight eye lol. But bright enough to be more than just a reflective shine (like a cats) since they shine all the time.

I always assumed the "shiny eyes" were a way of telling you that something is in there and to help making relate to quarians easier.

This seems logical. It would look plain weird if they had no apparent optics. Thats why the Hanar are so bizarre.

I think the bioluminescence theory is still the best one imo.

Bioluminescence, or eventually standardized eyes implants... but I don't see valid reasons for the second option.

It's been speculated that a HUD on the inside of her mask would make the effect constant.

This is probably the best answer. I doubt the developers thought about the biological reason for it.

Hmm, that is very plausible on the topic of a heads up display on their helmets reflecting on their eyes. I also like the theory of it simply being an indicator of "They have a face," lol.

Right. Was just an idea to add more personalization to the character, but if there had to be a reason, reflection works best in my opinion. It makes the most sense.

I'm curious as to why the Quarians have accents (especially Tali) similar to Middle Eastern, British, and Russian accents. Of course I know that this is to make each Quarian unique, but I truly wonder if somehow they visited Earth long ago and inter mingled with ancient races.

... I'm going to have to go with a negative on that one.

I assume it's just the way the translators work. Tali speaks her language and the translators give her a corresponding human accent.

Even if they visited Earth in the distant past, it would be impossible for them to mate and produce offspring with humans, as they are two completely different species that evolved on different planets. Just as a Zebra couldn't produce offspring with a Crocodile, a Quarian and a human couldn't have children together. In fact the Zebra at least is shares a common ancestry with the Crocodile, even if it distantly. Quarians and humans have no relation to each other.

When Shepard is communicating with aliens in English, he is most likely speaking Galactic Basic, or whatever it is that the official language of the Citadel Council is called. We just hear it in English so the player can understand what is being said, just as a movie set in ancient Rome would have the characters speak English rather than ancient Latin or Greek. Quarians like Tali that have an accent, are most likely speaking Galactic Basic as well, and so you hear their accent. Most Quarians would probably be well versed Galactic Basic it since it is the language most used in trade, commerce, and diplomacy in the galaxy. The Quarians that don't have accents are speaking their native dialect, and just being translated either into Galactic Basic by the universal translator, or into English. Because they are being translated by a computer, they don't have an accent.

Probably just to make them sound more exotic. Though several quarians do have American accents.

Its pretty understandable that quarians would have different dialect and accents from branching cultures like humans do. Probably each ship in the Migrant Fleet would have their own collective accent ( kind of like an individual country imo). That would explain how Tali has a somewhat Russian accent and Kal Reegar sounds more American.

I could be wrong about this, but I think quarians are the only aliens with a range of accents. For example, the asari all speak with American accents, with the sole exception of Benezia. My hypothesis is that Tali has a different quarian language as her mother tongue than others like Kal'Reegar and that she's speaking the common quarian dialect in the accent of her native language, but that's all supposition.

I think the Asari don't have accents because they are fluent in galactic basic, and are probably raised speaking it along with whatever local dialect their family speaks. It makes much more sense for the human and alien characters to be interacting in the official language of Citadel Space, rather than in a human dialect like English. Humans are newcomers to the galactic stage and not the dominant power in the galaxy, so there probably aren't many aliens who are fluent in English or other Earth languages.

Well there goes my dreams of babies with Tali. :P I figured that mating would be possible. Look at Humans and Asari. There's a lot of talk about Humans mating with Asari, as Shepard says "Settling down with lot's of little blue children." I believe it would be fully possible.

Yeah... That's completely impossible, it would be easier to create an entirely new sapient life form from scratch than to make Shepard and Tali compatible in such a way.
Quarians could be identical to humans in every way, save for the fact that they are based on dextro-amino acids, and the latter would still make it impossible for meiosis to occur.
The fact that they have similar, if not identical, reproductive organs makes it possible for them to have sex, but they could never reproduce.

Asari don't have intercourse in the way most other species do, they don't take any traits from the father, they aren't truly impregnated. They mind meld with their "mate" in order to randomize the DNA of their child, no real sex is involved, hence why they're compatible with basically everything that has a pulse.
The theory makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and is hardly explained, but it was a good enough excuse for BioWare to create lesbian space-elves that can have babies with every other species.
It's possible they have a vagina of sorts (azure), but its primary purpose would've been to give birth, and is now presumably occasionally repurposed when having intercourse with a male of another species, though not as part of the initial process of reproduction.

Ah yes, I forgot about the "mind meld" that the Asari do. I also forgot about Quarians (as well as Turians) being based on Dextro-Amino acids. I suppose my Shepard and Tali will have to look for some type of galactic adoption business.

*edit* Now, I have one thing to say. Besides the scientific fact that reproduction would be impossible for Humans and other alien races, I would like to say this. It is a video game, anything is possible, even if it makes no sense.

Pretty funny picture I found of Tali. A parody of Mordin's "Gilbert and Sullivan" act.

http://media.photobu.../talisong-1.jpg

*edit* It wouldn't show the picture, a bit too large I suppose, so I simply put the link. =)
