Looking at that modded pics just made me think about how good is Tali with the M5 Phalanx Pistol, and how it's inappropriate for a Quarian engineer wearing light armor running toward an enemy trying getting in range for her shotgun when a wound can kill you because of your weak immune system.
I have not yet played above normal difficulty, so I dunno how's in Insane, and I find her shotgun skill counterproductive. Legion, that have the same tech skills but the sniper rifles too, makes her nearly useless. And that's a shame.

Depends-the Geth shotgun has quite a bit of range to it, so anyone with a shotgun suddenly becomes much more viable . Also, Tali's loyalty skill, the shield stealing thing? Check the builds section of the forum for the details, but it's along the lines of 'steals their max shield, not just what they have, lasts for about 30 seconds, when her shields recharge they recharge the stolen shield bit as well' or something along those lines. Factor in higher difficulties has shields on lots of enemies and while I won't say she's the Best Character Evar for the higher difficulties she's certainly not bad.
i am playing an infiltrator on insanity right now and have used Tali for most of the game,
and she end's up being just as usefull as Garrus. I never understand where people get this thought process of her not being good in combat.
Geth Shotgun + Chitika = pretty good mix imo.
In response to earlier post,
realistically yes, a wound could kill her but she says herself something along the lines of: "if quarians could die from the odd stray bacteria we'd have die out long before we got into space"
eerbody also had kinetic barriers,
so i don't see her using a shotgun as being a problem.

I'm not saying she's not good in combat in general (I always have her in my squad) and Legion have a drone too. I'm saying she should use SMGs, assault rifles or sniper rifles instead of shotguns.
The geth shotgun is ok for mid range (but along with the M5 Phalanx comes in a DLC that you have to buy separately from the game).
Quarians should pick their targets from distance. Legion instead isn't organic and can absorb more damage (he goes around with a hole in his chest), and he can also repair himself, so I would see him better using a shotgun. He even have that improved shield that acts like Fortification.
Everyone have shields, but for close combat is better having a real armor rather than a envirosuit.

Yeah I've always find it kinda silly that people refer to her like that. Tali has always been interesting to me because of her character in ME1. I feel like she was sexualized for ME2. Not that I'm complaining in any major way, as her character is better than ever, but I don't think the LI option was truly necessary, although I guess plot wise it was expected and warranted.
But I think it was originally intended as a joke as previously stated. Most of us are normal people believe it or not hahahaha

The original concept had her with a sniper rifle. I am glad they made an adjustment to short range weaponry. It makes sense considering the quarian fighting style. If you aren't going to bombard it from orbit you are going to punch it in the face from close range. CQC training ftw.Tranzmetal wrote...
You know I figured it would make more sense for Tali to be more proficient with sniper rifles than shotguns. Who would want to be in close quarters combat in an envirosuit? Don't get me wrong I love Tali with her shotgun, but I would like to see her with more ranged weaponry. Maybe in ME3....

Makes sense I guess. Also having long range weapons training aboard the cramped ships of the Flotilla wouldn't fit well.Runescapeguy9 wrote...

Yeah but there's one massive flaw in your logic, Runescapeguy, if they were supposedly all trained in close quarter combat, why are their shields not more powerful. I would expect Tali to have some of the strongest shields in the game, since her style of fighting is charging in with a shotgun. I guess that her energy drain power does account for that though (and this HAS made Tali useful on insanity, believe it or not), but you'd think the Marines would be better armored if they were all trained in this fighting style.

I am a lady and have only started posting here recently. I know it was a joke, but I think Tali has so many great aspects about her personality, and this thread appreciates them. I know what guys are like, so it doesn't particularly bother me, but Pacifien is right. Some girls can get nasty
Mind you, I have been known to post this picture with a similar caption. In NSFW threads, of course...

A Tali V Liara has begun, I wonder how long until a flam war begins... However, I came on here to ask about Tali's views on the geth. Just so I can put something sensible down along with the image above
Xen wants to use the geth as servants again. Vas Quib Quib guy thinks that quarians wronged the geth and that they deserve to be chased from their homeworld and all that. And then Rael is determined to study them in order to wipe them out. Now, it seems, intitially that Tali shares these ideals with her father. But then, although she has a confrontation with Legion, she does agree to have him on board and even work with him.
So where do you guys think Tali fits on the whole Quarians v geth spectrum?

Rune, are you going kill the geth or make peace with them?

She gates geth, but she doesn't think that wiping them off the face of the galaxy is the answer. She isn't as extreme as Rael, that's for sure. But what do you think her view is on what should be done with the geth?

After all, per the codex, quarians have the most reason to hate synthetics, but are the most likely to treat them as people nonetheless.

what's the right course of action. She would like to reclaim the
homeworld and on top of it end this whole affair with the Geth, but she
acknowledges that open war with the Geth would be a disaster. That said, I think that before she got to know Legion, she would have favored to find another way to reclaim the homeworld. After she got to know Legion, and especially if you managed to solve the Legion/Tali encounter via Paragon or Renegade option, I'd say that she starts to favor a diplomatic approach.

I'm pretty sure she does want to completely obliterate them.
Tali has a lot of extremely hostile and angry feelings for the Geth, and this is before her father gets killed by them. I think unless you spent your conversations with her trying to talk her out of war, she's still pretty much wants gethicide.
Tali's hardline position on the Geth is one of the reasons a lot of the player base was annoyed with her...
A lot of the people of the Forum hate Batarians.
Batarians are to Humans as Geth are to Quarians.

So I agree, that after the events on the Alerei and Legion, Tali realised that the geth didn't have to be wiped out. But that it would be better if they targeted the reapers who were the cause of the heretics going to the 'dark side.'
All the more to save the galaxy with Shepard I guess.

Very true, we are going to need all the help we can get. That was a good analysis of it allTasha vas Nar Rayya wrote...
This is the conclusion I came to. Rael embedded the hatred of geth within her, and all quarians share this resentment towards geth. So it may be a result of peer pressure at first. But in ME2, she becomes horrified that they conducted live experiments on the geth. Thus, sub-consciously, I think she began to believe that geth were sentient. A belief that Rael did not share.
