Yeah, sometimes it's okay for a girl to just be, ah, kinda girly. Makes a guy feel wanted. That's one of the really nice things about the "I've watched you for so long" speech Tali makes.

I like this post, right here. It makes sense, and I agree with you and the rant to a great extent, if not completely.Redcoat wrote...

Redcoat: not a fan of tsundere girls.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I see this stock character everywhere (particularly in romantic comedies, the most contemptible genre of film imaginable), and every time their very presence is like nails on a chalkboard.
This rant here sums up my feeling on the "bickering couples" perfectly.
Fortunately, there are characters like Tali whose romance arc doesn't come across like watching an old married couple argue.
I felt like doing some typing this morning, so here it is, somewhat relevant to that post, deviating throughout though;
Some people feel that Tali's romance is forced (I would like to get peoples opinions on this), I'm not sure how they get to that answer, but I honestly feel that Tali's romance is one of the only ones which is based on something; friendship, then becomes something more. Something more than just love at first sight. Not that I'm saying that Jack, Miranda, Jacob, etc, etc are love at first sight but they did only come into the game in ME2, so their feeling toward Shepard are new.
Another thing you must take into consideration, is that Shepard was presumed dead for two years, if Tali had feelings for him from ME1(which according to LotSB she did), then those feelings would have had time to stew over those two years; thoughts like "I miss him", "I wish he were here," would have been extremely likely(in my opinion the Haestrom audio recordings acknowledge those thoughts) given her apparent feelings from ME1, and, that being the case would appear stronger knowing that Shepard was still alive(i.e. when the met again on Freedoms Progress). Personally, I think it all fits together, and I think it fits well to make one of the more believable, long lasting characters in the game.
But as was said, this doesn't mean that Tali is a doormat, far from it. Comments like the ones that Alienmorph pointed out.
Alienmorph wrote...
The "sugar and sweetness" definition maybe can be applied to the romance... maybe... but surely not to her whole characterization. For example she's the character you save from troubles the higthest number of times but every time all seems to point that she was going down fighting... she trew grenades to the Saren's assassins, she runs for cover on Freedom's Progress only to aid the injured and the bunker on Haestrom is fullfilled of dead geths, but there are no quarian corpses in it, so she killed them. Then there are dialogues like "My name is Tali!" or "Shepard, I rembember to you that those people thinked that enslaving Thorian's Creepers and Rachins was a good idea." or "I'm Zorah, from the starship Neema. And you're an idiot.". It doesn't fit very well the definition of the sweet damsel in distress for me...
She's certainly a softer LI than the others, but again, with everything else taken into consideration, if she turned around and said something like "everyone on Haestrom and Freedoms Progress was collateral damage" then I'd be put off. As it stands though, I think there is a decent balance of badass-ish behaviour mixed with what I would can realistic emotion, to make a well-rounded character.
She shows emotion/anguish/frustration during her loyalty mission, and as far as I remember most of the LIs do show emotion to some extent, and given the news of what is happening to her, (the trial and the possibility of her father being dead) she would come across as uncaring and heartless if no emotion is shown. But, again, this doesn't mean that she is a damsel in distress, it means that she cares.
So, basically, broken down into the most basic parts:
She's caring, but also shows some badass material when the situation calls for it.
Although, naturally, it is opinionated and no two people are likely to see the character the same way.

I do think people focus on the romance too much, sometimes. She's a bit awkward and shy there, but that's almost the only time she ever is.
Tali's romance is actually the most conditional in the entire series so far. She is not a doormat by any means, really silly that people get that idea. You do something wrong, she'll let you know. She's a fierce woman when the situation calls for it.

You save Ashley more than you do Tali, actually. People just don't seem to nice, for some reason.
Hmm... Eden Prime, Virmire and Horizon. Yep they've got more ore less the same number of salvatages on the battlefield. But if we wanna be fussy we have to add to the Tali's list the trial and eventually LotSB if you bring her to fight the Broker.
Collider wrote...
She's in fact one of the people that can question in the hardest way the Shepard's decision. Side with Legion in their discussion for example, and then have the paragon chat with her to regain the loyalty. She looks like she's almost going to shoot at Shepard before starting to calm a bit.

i have already romanced tali had the scene and everything and everytime i talk to her shepard says
Shepard: i dont want to hurt you tali but i am willing to wait.
i wanted to see what would happen if i choose the other response and this time he says
Shepard: I cant put you in harms way tali.
i go upstairs to my cabin and find ashley picture face up instead of face down like it was and now tali wont talk to me so can you end a romance even though you had one or is my game just wierd.

Hi, no news about Tali in ME3, but she'll got a new armored suit next week as part of the second Alternate Appearence Pack.

Your shep romanced ashley in me1 and you made the horrible mistake of not nuking her in virmire. Then you romanced tali but made the horrible horrible choice of breaking her precious quarian heart. Now you are back to romancing ashley.
congratulations.
i just wondered if you could romance tali and end it with her

This is the kind of stuff I would have expected from the EA marketing department when introducing new squadmates. But I guess something a fan did in their free time would be too much to ask
Brilliant and fantastic.

I expected one on Haestorm with the colossus. Like you have to distract it while she climbs up on top, rides it like a bronco while simultaneously hacking it. She then uses the siege pulse to destroy the last geth drop ship
Or would that have been too much?
I don't consider her a damsel in distress at all. In fact she is incapable of being so thanks to the lore but a little something to shut the haters up would have been nice. For that matter, Grunt needed a cutscene for the HOLD THE LINE segment of the suicide mission. Like ripping through collectors with his bare hands

I will most likely do other mags on other squad mates, next up would be Thane (lots of fanart to work with), also the most difficult and time consuming thing is to match the fonts as close as possible as pro magazines use specialy made fonts that cost about $50- $60 a pop.
So I try and find free ones to match the cover arts of previous issues. Also I need to cut out the logo to get right.
I really want to do Garrus but I can't get any good full length images.

The scene you described sound a little bit too extreme, but surely a badassery moment will be welcome. Example for an eventual begin of ME3: Shepard's fighting husks, he's mowing dozens in front of him and finally the wave ends. Suddently a last one jumps up from the back of him, but before Shep can even try to turn on and defend himself the husk's head explodes because of a shotgun hit. Then we see the commander smiling while Tali calmy stepping in direction of Shepard with her weapon still smoking. A bit clicheous, but cool.

Wouldn't help. Some people hate Jack because she does something in a cutscene she can't do in the game.Confused_Shepard wrote...

I have to say, I wonder if your memory is dodgy or you simply haven't tried Jack-she shuts you down if you take her up on the first offer, you need to refuse it for her sto start actually trusting you. (Using sex as a weapon? good heavens, perish the thought!Alienmorph wrote...
Agreed. I've got nothing against Jack but esentially her romance is the story of a woman jumped in the main plot from the middle of nowhere, that after a free-of-implications sex time decides to believe that you care about her if you return for the round 2. She's not a bad character, but really... she needed desperately a better romance development. One more reason for playing as xenophile Shepard and 'mance quarian girls ^__^
Anyways, on a more Tali-related note, saw a screenshot on Tuchanka a while ago of her with the new outfit, and are those spare heatsinks on her left forearm? It would be a nice touch if it was
