Can't help but notice that nobody has brought up the possibility of in vitro fertilization. It was the first thing I thought of when someone suggested children between the two. It's obvious that, within the confines of the mass effect universe, Bioware does not intend cross species children to be viable.

If shep and tali really wanted a child of their own they could get a quarian male donor and tali could still carry the child. The donor could even be completely anonymous. Bam, problem solved.

And the Admiralty couldn't whine about it because she would still be adding to the quarian population.

Buddha's post to his blog a few pages back

Some parts of her story are so damn D'AWWWWWWful. How can I regain my man card?
Chop down a tree with your face. Have a man breakfast.

Is she free tomorrow night?
As her metaphorical father, I strongly disapprove.

I laughed so hard I almost choked to death on the coffee I was drinking.  classic.

HAI GUISE! Are you all talking about adoption without me? Because I had something to say about it...

(As a bonus, here's another scenario ("Protectors" about halfway down the page) from UDHNRT.)

I have to say that of all the replies to my question, this one surprised me the most. I wasn't thinking about adoption until Collider mentioned it and see someone develop a full character for Mass Effect based on this concept was really cool.. and weird. I smiled frequently while I was reading the initial biography.

Everyone else

I have to thanks everybody for their replies. It have been over 30 hours since my last Mass Effect session, which I stopped to decide between Liara and Tali. I ended up going with Liara. It's weird to say this, but I kinda feel bad for dumping Tali after everything that happened in Mass Effect 2. If it wasn't for the mission The Lair of The Shadow Broker, I would have chosen Tali, but I think that Liara makes more sense to me.

There's always making another playthrough for the Tali romance. But good to see you made a decision :)

Hehe, only joking, I know you're Italian, but us English have our terrible humour to contend with Posted Image.
Personally, I didn't want to romance Liara. She certainly got LOADS better in ME2 and in 'Redemption.' But I still wasn't so eager because I thought she had too many time consuming duties as a Shadow Broker, and so she wouldn't be able to spend much time with Shepard.
Of course, I brought this up on a thread one time, and got utterly bashed by Liara fans for it...
Tali however, has followed Shepard through thick and thin. She has waited for him, and taken things slowly. It is also a relationship based on trust, loyalty and personality (because Shepard can't see her face, so it isn't a shallow fling.)
And, Tali is ace!

Chill. Legion and Tali are obviously only thinking of plans to have peace between the geth and quarians in that picture anyway ;)

And they are holding hands, because that is how geth exchange information with the 'creators.' Hehe.

Let's say that Tali remains with Shepard until the ending of Mass Effect 3 and they don't die. Do you picture them together? For how long? It seems more like that their relationship is bound to be broken, not because of their interest in each other, but because of their physical limitations.

I noticed in your post above that you chose Liara and I agree with idea of another playthru with Tali as your LI. Isn't it nice to not have your choice sealed in concrete? and not to be flamed by those of us who are obviously Talimancer;s?

I had to respond to your question's in your quote; Hell yes and until they're old and gray with several adopted kids of both species running underfoot !:D   They've already found a way to deal with physical limitations.

No they don't... 20 years with the same little group of idiots at command, even after that the range of their idiocy was demonstrated several times. They're not good in retrating. At all :pinched:

Returnin OnTopic... I don't know why Tali and Shep should be worried about their chances of having a family... esentially they're two people that does a job that could kill them both every day... until the reapers will be out there they only need eachother. Then, if they're both gonna make it, they'll talk about adoption and so...

well harasing someone about picking Liara over Tali woud be soo childish. Besides I always thinked that Tali is most unreasonable Love Intrest in game (besides Garrus maybe :) ), so that only thouse realy in love in Tali's personality , endeared with her person could pick her as a LI. I wasnt hesitating a socond when it came to choose. It was only natural for me that Tali was the one, and ther was no other possibility than fell for her compleatly. Damn if I was to choose in upcoming sequel : saving Tali, agains lets say - sacrificing entire crew of Normandy. I would do that !

When comes to resoning though, there are others far more sutable for Shemhard, just not for MINE SHEPHERD.

I wonder what would defalut shepherd choose ? Staying faithfull to Ask i suppose (she is the Defalut choise for thouse who started in ME2)

I romanced Liara in ME1 because I had to choose between her and Ashley. And well... seeing as my favourite characters by far were aliens... But when the choice to romace Tali came up in ME2, bye bye Liara. Liara has an interesting personality, but I loved Tali and Garrus from the moment I saw them pretty much. One day when I'll make a ''perfect'' playthrough I'll make sure to only romance Tali, althought you did get a little interesting dialogue from Liara during LotSB if you romanced them both.

Yeah, I prefer to keep the ME1 Liara romance and let her down easy in LotSB. It makes for an interesting story. If I'm punished for it in ME3, I guess I'll have to change my tune, though. Heh.

Hehehe!! You would know more than me. Here in England, people just vote for best politicking LIAR! But enough of my anti-democratic ranting Posted Image.
If they do adopt, do you think they will adopt a quarian or a human?

Quarian would probably be best. Quarians typically live in poverty, Shepard & Tali could give their quarian child a good shot at having a happy, fulfilled life.

I thought a quarian too. It also means that Shep and Tali could bring the quarian up to benefit the Migrant Fleet and provide them with lots of resources, without the child being confined to the Migrant Fleet itself.

I would like to think that they still travel the galaxy with their adopted child.

Well, probably there will be a lot of orphans of war along the galaxy, after reapers's defeat, so there will be both human and quarian babies that will need a family... but as you already said it will be hard that Shepard and Tali will settle on Flotilla or in anyother place with many quarians living on it, so probably they'll at least adopt a quarian child to don't make Tali feeling every time as the white fly of the situation...

Yeah, especially if Tali is exiled. She will need that reminder of her people. I wonder if she will be allowed to adopt if exiled? I guess Shep could do the honours. They seem pretty keen on his charisma.

The exile could be a problem. Tali won't be able to go on the Fleet to find an orphan to adopt... but maybe with the help of Shala'Raan at least Shepard migth grant a temporary access to do that.
