I don't understand why promising to Tali an homeworld on the Alarei is the renegade option, especially considering that you're not even supposed to have recruited Legion (at least if you wanna have a "save the crew" game). You're offering help to a friend... why is a renegade thing? Correctin' that in LotSB was indeed a nice touch.

I assume it's a renegade option because if you don't have Legion already and haven't heard his explanation of the Rannoch issue, it's essentially a promise to engage in a war that is sure to cost a great many lives.  I'm all for helping friends, but that's a pretty steep promise.

It's also why I take the paragon options in the Alarei dialogue.

I can't resist promising her the homeworld, but then I push the Admiralty Board for not engaging war and I sustain Qwib Qwib to re-equilbrate the situation.

Everyone's welcome to their choices and rationales, of course.  I know the promise of a homeworld is one a lot of Tali fans like.  I'm just not personally comfortable with it until LotSB, which I do post-SM, and thus know all about Legion, etc.  Not to mention that I don't take a stance on the proposed war with the geth so I can instead say use that "didn't defend one of your people, defended on of mine" line instead.

But anyway, the Alarei conversation about homeworlds is really a good, emotional one no matter which path you choose.

What is the meaning of "SM" in this sentence? And what is the meaning of "LI" in the threads about romance?

SM: Suicide Mission
LI: Love Interest

SM stands for 'Suicide Mission'.
LI stands for 'Love Interest'.

The promise to give Tali back her homeworld is a hard promise to keep IMO. Because the geth have mostly conquered the planet. Since there's a lot of hate between Quarians and Geth it's going to be a hard decision. I would like to see the Geth and the Quarians live together on the same planet. IMO peace is always the answer. I don't want war between them.:(

Geth lives in space, except maybe a few of them that are still cleaning the Rannoch's surface. Achieving peace and givin the homeworld back to quarian is not impossible.

That's always been a tricky one for me in relation to Tali.

I have always liked her character, but completely disagreed with her views on the geth.

The Quarian's were wrong to attack the geth as far as I am concerned, and it was their own fault that they were driven from their homeworld. On the other hand I think their treatment from all the other species was horrible as creating the geth was a mistake, and they don't deserve the punishment they have recieved from it.

The Council seem to bee incredibly petty about it, one of the planets in ME2 states that the Quarians had began settling on a planet before asking for permission to inhabit it by the Council, the Council decided they couldn't and threatened to bomb the settlements if they were not evacuated within a month, they then gave the world to the Elcor.

It's all true and Geezus i never knew that ''the Council decided they couldn't and threatened to bomb the settlements
if they were not evacuated within a month, they then gave the world to
the Elcor.''. One more reaon to hate the council. Still, I wish no war between the Geth and the Quarians.

I too support peace between the Quarians and the Geth. It might take time, but it should be doable.

Doubt it. You could show a thousand Geths waving white flags, destroying all their weapons and singing ''peace between creators and geth'' and there would not be a single Quarian convinced (Well, excepting Koris of course, but that idiot tried to get Tali exiled so I'm not counting him!).

Peace between Quarians and Geth might be possible, but sure as hell not in the near future. I believe Han'Gerrel said that they were close to having a majority of people who wanted to take back Rannoch. I can't believe more than a few of those would suddenly want peace with the Geth even if Legion revealed that they wanted peace.

I myself am against the war, and this is before I even met legion, As much as I love tali I came to a golden thought “What good is a world if no one there to live on it?” Kal’Reeger helped support my mind frame. The Geth from a logical stand point have EVERY advantage over the Quarians. They have more Ships, More Man power, Better communication, Better Tech, And are not in grave danger if say there suit get a bullet hole. Heck every time we seen Quarians go against geth the Quarians lose. My Shep Love tali and he wasn’t about to send her and her people into an earlier grave case they want to go home. It a horrid thing but in the end trying to make a new home would be best for them was my mind frame before Legion.

Having talked to legion I fully think peace can happen.. Probably not in my shep life time but it can happen the geth have shown they do not want war they have no need for it and would only push such action if endangered.

I think peace is possible, but not side-by-side. Quarian, especially ones of Tali's era, have suffered too much, and are not themselves personally responsible for the Morning War. Contrast with geth, which is basically the same overmind that slaughtered the inhabitants of Rannoch. I'd prefer they make peace, but I believe that they're going to need to be apart for the foreseeable future.

They all share memories and experiences... Geths are a continuos flow of datas, not individuals so neither an hive mind because the base of those are still individuals. So in Legion and in all the other living geth still remains everything of the original geth who slaughtered the quarians.

Not precisely.  But you've got a bunch of runtimes working together, and there's a an intellect they form at the very top level.  I think it's reasonable to assume a certain amount of continuity in that decision-making instrument (whatever form it takes) from the past to the present.

But this isn't really the place to discuss that, maybe.

(Thankyou for removing the annoying posts Moderator!)

I don't agree with war against the geth, but the heretics would have been the ones who attacked the quarians and joined Saren. Geth like Legion are probably the ones who just went into fringe space and chilled out.

However, with the quarians' technical expertise it is expected that they will build artificial labourers. It makes a lot of economic, political and common sense. However, it seemed like a short time period between the geth being created, and then the geth turning on the quarians.

I don't have an exact time period, but I think it would have been about 400 years between creation of the geth and then taking Rannoch from the quarians.

And isn't 400 years a very small amount of time for geth to evolve sufficiently to have emotions and want emancipation?

Perhaps some equivalent of a quarian 'mad scientist' decided to evolve the geth much more rapidly, leading them to have emotions.

Just another of my crazy theories!

Manly because most of Legion/Geth related subject are made on Campaign Quests and Storylines sub-forum and not in Legion support thread.
