I assume it's a renegade option because if you don't have Legion already and haven't heard his explanation of the Rannoch issue, it's essentially a promise to engage in a war that is sure to cost a great many lives. I'm all for helping friends, but that's a pretty steep promise.Alienmorph wrote...
I don't understand why promising to Tali an homeworld on the Alarei is the renegade option, especially considering that you're not even supposed to have recruited Legion (at least if you wanna have a "save the crew" game). You're offering help to a friend... why is a renegade thing? Correctin' that in LotSB was indeed a nice touch.
It's also why I take the paragon options in the Alarei dialogue.

Everyone's welcome to their choices and rationales, of course. I know the promise of a homeworld is one a lot of Tali fans like. I'm just not personally comfortable with it until LotSB, which I do post-SM, and thus know all about Legion, etc. Not to mention that I don't take a stance on the proposed war with the geth so I can instead say use that "didn't defend one of your people, defended on of mine" line instead.Alienmorph wrote...
I can't resist promising her the homeworld, but then I push the Admiralty Board for not engaging war and I sustain Qwib Qwib to re-equilbrate the situation.
But anyway, the Alarei conversation about homeworlds is really a good, emotional one no matter which path you choose.

SM stands for 'Suicide Mission'.
LI stands for 'Love Interest'.

The promise to give Tali back her homeworld is a hard promise to keep IMO. Because the geth have mostly conquered the planet. Since there's a lot of hate between Quarians and Geth it's going to be a hard decision. I would like to see the Geth and the Quarians live together on the same planet. IMO peace is always the answer. I don't want war between them.NuclearBuddha wrote...

That's always been a tricky one for me in relation to Tali.
I have always liked her character, but completely disagreed with her views on the geth.
The Quarian's were wrong to attack the geth as far as I am concerned, and it was their own fault that they were driven from their homeworld. On the other hand I think their treatment from all the other species was horrible as creating the geth was a mistake, and they don't deserve the punishment they have recieved from it.
The Council seem to bee incredibly petty about it, one of the planets in ME2 states that the Quarians had began settling on a planet before asking for permission to inhabit it by the Council, the Council decided they couldn't and threatened to bomb the settlements if they were not evacuated within a month, they then gave the world to the Elcor.

Peace between Quarians and Geth might be possible, but sure as hell not in the near future. I believe Han'Gerrel said that they were close to having a majority of people who wanted to take back Rannoch. I can't believe more than a few of those would suddenly want peace with the Geth even if Legion revealed that they wanted peace.

Having talked to legion I fully think peace can happen.. Probably not in my shep life time but it can happen the geth have shown they do not want war they have no need for it and would only push such action if endangered.

Not precisely. But you've got a bunch of runtimes working together, and there's a an intellect they form at the very top level. I think it's reasonable to assume a certain amount of continuity in that decision-making instrument (whatever form it takes) from the past to the present.VettoRyouzou wrote...
I thought geth didn't have a over/hive mind mentality.
But this isn't really the place to discuss that, maybe.

I don't agree with war against the geth, but the heretics would have been the ones who attacked the quarians and joined Saren. Geth like Legion are probably the ones who just went into fringe space and chilled out.
However, with the quarians' technical expertise it is expected that they will build artificial labourers. It makes a lot of economic, political and common sense. However, it seemed like a short time period between the geth being created, and then the geth turning on the quarians.
I don't have an exact time period, but I think it would have been about 400 years between creation of the geth and then taking Rannoch from the quarians.
And isn't 400 years a very small amount of time for geth to evolve sufficiently to have emotions and want emancipation?
Perhaps some equivalent of a quarian 'mad scientist' decided to evolve the geth much more rapidly, leading them to have emotions.
Just another of my crazy theories!

Manly because most of Legion/Geth related subject are made on Campaign Quests and Storylines sub-forum and not in Legion support thread.
