I read somewhere that originally, Bioware was going with a more traditional "gray man" alien:
*snip*
Granted, I highly doubt Quarians in their finalized form resemble the "grays" as much as at the start, but with some of the hints you get from behind the visor in both 1 & 2, you can certainly see the similarities. Would also explain the somewhat glowy/reflectiveness of the eyes.
I totally get that impression. We can see the outline of her face and any skin color that is bright and not a pale gray, blue or purple would show as a far darker colour under the mask. The closer to the red spectrum you get, the blacker the color would appear when looked at through a purple lens. Its physics, only purple shows through a purple lens. Its slight transparency wouldn't allow enough color to get through to prevent this effect.
I completely see the influence the standard "grays" had on them designing the quarian appearance. As for the eyes, here's what I said a page or two back.

I can also easily see her eyes being almost solid in color, similar to
Thanes'. But in Thane's memory scenes, sometimes his eye color lightens
up, allowing you to see the iris and pupil of his eyes. I think her
having smoky white eyes with just a hint of an iris would work quite
well to the same effect. This would also serve to explain how her eyes,
in their entirety, seem reflective. As creatures with reflective eyes
on earth only reflect light from the iris area of their eyes, but
quarian eyes seem to reflect over their entire area.

That actually sounds really pretty and is close to what I imagined myself.ImmortalWarrior wrote...

You know what'd be cool? If instead of seeing her whole face (assuming Bioware goes all DRAMATIC REVEAL!), you only see her eyes. This, I think would strike a fair compromise between people that want to see what she looks like and people who want to keep the air of mystery about her.
Plus, I am a massive sucker for pretty eyes. Which is probably why I like Jack and Samara so much.
Sorry if this has already been brought up, but I rarely drop in here.

I don't see anything wrong with that. All he did was say hello and that he loves Tali.
But, Tali is awesome!

slightly on topic. Tali spelt backwards is ital. I'tal sounds like a name from star trek. does this support the space-elves theory?
Tali =/= Ital backwards.
Tali backwards is Ilat.
on a side note, im not sure where but somewhere on this thread people discussed the meaning on her name in different languages such as Hebrew?
correct me if i am wrong of you know what page by some chance.

By the way, seeing as there's a very large chance we'll get to see Tali's face in ME3 (Seeing as Bioware put a pretty heavy emphasis on her face in the romance), I wonder if it might be interesting to reject Tali's romance scene before heading through the Omega 4 Relay. It would make it a bit more dramatic in ME3 seeing as then Shepard would be seeing her face for the first time. I'll have to try it on some playthrough.

I'm not sure if rejecting Tali before the Omega 4 Relay ends the romance.
Rejecting Jacob or Thane (probably Miranda too, I'd imagine) in their romance scene basically has Shepard say "not now, but later," which would imply that the romance would still be active. I have yet to test these out, though.

It could be argued that the "paragon" rejection of Tali is "not now, but later." I don't know if it ends the romance. A person would have to check to see if the ME1 LI pic had flipped back up or something.Collider wrote...
I personally think that the "rising star" version of the meaning of Tali's name is suitable.

Not that it makes sense really. You'd think telling Tali that sleeping with her is too dangerous would be a sign that you want a relationship, but not a risk to her health.

But Tali herself besides all her feelings is very doubtful that she's doing the right think (remember the whole second buildup dialogue) staying with Shepard and rejecting her, even for the right reasons, probably makes her willing to do a step back and don't continue what for her looks, at that point, an impossible relation. So I guess we can assume that the normal rejection (not the renegade-threesome one off course... that is just a jerkish performance) it's more like the Garrus' "We should just stay friends".

True enough, but it does irk me that relationships in Bioware games seem to be purely about sex. If you don't screw the person then you aren't with them. Obviously sex is usually common in a healthy adult relationship but a long lasting relationship is based on more than whether or not you sleep with someone as soon as you both express your feelings for each other.
I don't see why once the interest was expressed there couldn't have been three options:
'Yes we should sleep together, but only if it is safe.'
'I want to be with you. but shouldn't sleep togther because I don't want to risk you dying.'
'I think it would be better for us to remain friends as this won't work.'

Actually, a "rejection" of the ME1 LI pre-Ilos doesn't end the romance because it will carry over to ME2. So one could argue it's not all about the sex.Machines Are Us wrote...

The way I usually look at is that the only health issue under consideration is how you're 99.9% likely to die in the next couple hours. We as players know that Shep's going to come through alright if we do the right thing, but as far as the characters know, this is a SUICIDE mission. Putting off consumating a relationship makes no sense if you honestly think you could die very, very soon.

Really? Huh, I actually didn't know that.
I do agree that with the other part you said as well. I think with the point I was getting at it's more just annoyance at the language used in the game as it makes it sound like relationships w/o sex =/= relationships.

Tali also means "tower pear," "she leaves," "her pear" and a couple other non-sensical things in Mandarin.

Well, it might provide incentive to survive the mission. I agree with your assessment, though.
