Admiral Xen is insane to some, but maybe she's not that crazy.

How you'd call someone who wanna reaslave the machines that almost made extinct your species for trying to not being slave?

*snip*

If planned correctly (as in a trojan horse style move), Xen's plan could have some major success. Also if your dog ran away from you, wouldn't you try to get it back?

I doubt I would if the dog killed my family and tried to kill me.Besides Geth are sapient beigns now.
After ME1 I was (like probably everyone) anti Geth.
But Legion opened my eyes. I really hope peace between Quarians and Geth come to pass.

I might get some flak for saying this, but the Geth only achieved sentience because of the laziness on the behalf of the Quarians. I like Legion (he's my third favorite, behind Garrus), but if the Quarians tried taking back THEIR creations, I wouldn't blame them.

It's been an interesting dialogue. One last question for now: would you like it if Tali had been bisexual? How do you feel the Femshep/Tali romance would have gone; would it have had a noticeably different feel to it? Would you have played it?

I wouldn't mind it. Personally, I don't see a Tali/Femshep romance, but if there was, I just wouldn't romance Tali as Femshep.

I'm obscurely glad she is not, because I worry we'd get fights between which gender was better for her like the Liara bunch.

I think only the over-zealous feminists would complain.

EDIT: Not meant to offend anyone that is a feminist, I'm only going by what I've experienced.

I don't know why you would catch flak for this idea. Legion is also one of my favorite's. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the Quarian's laziness?  I suppose as a race mankind does create some machines out of laziness, but don't we create most for efficiency? I remember reading/hearing somewhere that Tali's people created the Geth to do basic chores or tasks, but because of the way they networked they evolved into sentience. I always guessed they created the Geth to free themselves up for more important things/work/studies.

As for the Tali bisexual thing I'm couldn't care less. I just wouldn't have pursued that option with a femshep play. Just doesn't interest me. If it does other's, fine.

Goodwood does not believe that the Liara threads suffered from such arguments, and he is/was one of the biggest "LIara as LI" proponents out there. He would also like to point out that sexuality within the non-player characters (including squadmates) should be pre-determined and consistant, i.e., set in stone and not deviated from due to community demand. A person is either gay, straight, or somewhere in between; making them "change" for sake of the player would be extremely difficult to bring off in a believeable fashion, especially for pre-existing characters.

Goodwood feels that you lot should feel fortunate that BioWare made the Talimance possible in the first place... B)

What would you say if they decided they would press their children into slavery?

People seem to think that it's the Quarians that are instigating this conflict and that the Geth are apathetic to the whole thing... but how do we know that for sure? Legion does not represent all Geth, and even admits that if exterminating the Quarians was efficiently logical, they would do it in a second. How do we not know the Geth aren't already planning to attack the Quarians again?

Don't compare the Geth to children pressed into slavery. It's more like you build a better and better hammer and one day it calls you 'mommy'. What would you do? I might try to smash it even without the laws against AI. If only until I could get a grasp on what just happened.

I can't fault the Quarians for what happened. It just seems that sentience is an emergent quality of their tech, maybe that's the fate of all tech (well not the krogan) and they should have been studying ways to create properly restricted AI's like EDI rather than have one crop up out of the wilderness like the Geth or Skynet.

But that's the thing - when it stops being a hammer, you can't insist on treating it like a hammer.

When the Geth were nothing more than machinery the Quarians had every right to turn them off; there was noting wrong with deciding to deactivate them 'before they achieved sapience'.  Once they discovered it was too late, the situation changed and they no longer had the right to treat the Geth as property.

Don't forget that they continued to attack the Geth primarily out of fear - not only of the Geth themselves, but of the sanctions the Citadel would impose if their 'mistake' were discovered.  Essentially, they were willing to commit genocide to engage in a cover-up.  You can't necessarily blame them in the panic of the moment for not thinking things through, but some of Quarian's attitude toward the Geth is based on denial and avoidance of their guilt in the matter.

Hold on. Quarians didnt attack Geth becuse they feared Citadel sanctions. They formally asked for assistance of the Council, which was declined
Also during Geth's "justified self defense" BILIONS of Quarian civilians have died(aswell as all other organic races that were on quarian worlds at this time,we learn that from asari on ilium)
Both sides are guilty of what happened. Quarians started it, but Geth went too far.
Not every Quarian wanted all geth destroyed. You can bet there were people like Admiral Korris but they were in minority, yet they were slaugthered all the same by the Geth.

What Geth should have done is after defeating Quarian military(which was based arround using Geth as land forces) which was relatively weak, they should have grabed resources and as many ships as possible(destroying the ones they couldnt take). That way noone would know where Geth went. There would be no pursuit from Quarians(no military and no ships). How Geth could have known citadel wouldnt send help?If Council did send fleet in the Geth would be completly destroyed. Now everyone knows where Geth are.

I agree 100%

If they had made Tali bisexual from the beginning then fine; as she isn't then it'd be ridiculous for them to change it just because some fans like the idea.

Yes.

Also, Goodwood, by writing like some kind of Hanar it's extremely annoying to read your posts. Not because it's hard, but because you really seem to be so full of that ''Writing normally... is SO mainstream'' ****. Please, stop.

People will find a way to make it happen anyway :P, even if it's not planned in the game

True, but I wouldn't even if I could as I firmly believe in characters being characters. If you can make them change their sexuality then you are are changing who the character is.

It'd be like using a mod to make Miranda hate Cerberus for example.

Yeah, there's soemthing to be said for keeping the characters the way they're presented in the game.

Edit:

Hints of new DLC.  Hopefully it's not everyone's favorite quarian making any "sacrifices" this time.

Rather not :) - the most obvious sacrifices are Doctor Kenson sacrificing herself to prevent Rippers form imidietly returning. Or maybe the Virmire Survivor not so surviving after all :)

Tali is secure - for time beeing.

Will we see the end of Kaiden/Ashley?

I would think it rather silly, myself, but that's one lame way of cleaning up a left over romance thread from ME1.

NOTE:

I really DON'T see this happening.
