The hope is that BW made ME2 ending with the Suicide Mission with already a plan to bring back at least some of the squadmates in ME3 too, but the lead. writer is still mr. Mac Walters that doesn't seem to care about any character who's not Liara. So... hmm, we'll see...

Please do elaborate on that last part.

Walters made her the only character in the whole saga that cannot die, he made her the reason of why Shepard is still alive, he wrote an entire DlC only for her an whathever you'll do you're at least forced to be friend of her. I don't hate her or so (she's my canon LI in ME1) but it's a mere fact that no other character is priveledged like Liara. Luckly Walters is still the main writer, but also Patric Weekes, the Tali and Mordin's writer, is still aboard.

When you put it that way I can see what you mean about Liara being a writer's pet.
My (incredibly naive) hope is that the Arrival DLC in some way deals with the mystery surrounding the premature dieing of Haestrom's sun. That way Mr. Weekes has an excuse to give Tali at least some dialogue about a subject close to her character.

Haestrom's sun was dying because of dark energy, which had several mentions throughout ME2, and I believe pertains at least somewhat to the Reapers.  I don't know if Arrival will mention it, but I imagine it will play a fairly significant role in ME3.

I doubt arrival will focus on the dark energy or any squad member more than one line (Like in LotSB when you meet the SB).

I don't think that Arrival will be a character specific DLC. I think that LotSB and perhaps a VS DLC will be the only one's to be character specific. Liara being the favourite and all. This is especially evident in the interactive comic for PS3 users.

Although I say that, but Garrus and Tali were squaddies in ME2, whereas Liara wasn't really...

Presidium fish? You're on Null! I raise you a prothean artifact and a team dextro picture!

It's highly likely yes. Although not as some suggested that the VS is gonna die.

Its either that proffesor we have to rescue dying or VS dying.
Most likely the proffesor but.... think about it. If VS dies then its 2 less characters to write/record dialogues for in ME3.They dont have massive fanbases and their role in ME2 was rather small thus allot of people dont really care about them. From buisness standpoint VS dying is good move

Killing off the VS doesn't make sense, though I think Arrival will deal heavily with the VS.

All the Ashely and Kaiden fans really should have their love interest carry over to the third game. Giving them the shaft would likely set off riots. Or at least incite furious, furious nerd rage.

Somehow, it does feel like VS might die in Arrival though. Because guess what Love Interest from ME1 is the only still remaining? That's right, Liara.

Liara couldnt die in ME1 thought.
I am not saying I support VS dying (hell no. I prefer those 2 than Jacob the borefest(even Kaidan was less boring) and Miranda 'Spandex in Space' Lawson(Ashley atleast had character instead of beign fanservice doll)) but Its possible VS will die for the reasons stated in my previous post. Then again Shepard returns to alliance, so VS would be natural squadnember

... and here we return on Mac Walter's Liaraphiliac attitude. But also was stated that who remained loyal to ME1's LIs (with plular, so theorically not only Liara) would have been "rewarded" in ME3. Not that is particulary important for us, right? =]

Oh please, VS dying because Bioware's too lazy to write their dialogue for ME3? I find that very hard to believe. And I would personally be outraged if the VS died, despite hating Ashley and only slightly liking Kaidan, simply because then Bioware forces you to only romance Liara if you want to stay ''loyal'' throughout the full trilogy.
Edit: I personally think it's a shame that loyal people will be ''rewarded'' in ME3, seeing as the only people I really want to mance (Tali, Garrus, Thane, Jack) are only available in ME2. I hope they don't make the ME2 mances less serious than the ME1 ones, but you never know.

Dont rommance anyone in ME1 ( and befriend Garrus/Tali by doing their mission). That feels loyal enough

Very good point about the "ME1 rommance will have meaning in ME3" It was officialy said(albeit really long time ago). But you know... ME1 had "Big decisions affecting whole universe" and it turned out to be emails or 1-2 lines diffrent in one conversation.

But once again I dont support VS dying, just saying its possible( I give it 30%~chance)

I'll go ahead and say it:

If the VS ends up dying in Arrival (ME3 is something else entirely), I'll...do something. Eat my hat maybe. Or boil down a shoe and eat that. Or perhaps try brussell sprouts. I am 99.9999999999999% sure the VS will survive at least Arrival. Probably all the way through ME3 if you play your cards right.

I only think that because of the email you get from the VS after the confrontation on Horizon. Had they left it at just the confrontation, I'd find it more believable. That and I don't think Bioware would be that lazy/insensitive towards even one section of their fanbase.

BTW am I the only one that is happy that you can't romance Tali/Garrus in ME1??

I find more good that the relation builds up with trust and time, and then flourish in ME2.

I was also wondering "What the frak is this VS everyone is babbling about?". Although eventually I did begin to realize it does point to Ash/Kaidan, it was very confusing. Oh, how I hate abbreviations at times.

When I think about the Arrival and Haestrom's sun's dark energy buildup, scenarios from Stargate start popping into my mind. I don't think wormholes would go with ME lore though.
