I don't think the quarians are xenophobic.

RAMIREZ! Did appealing to the arishok Chris Priestly work?
Edit: Sh*t, I already got warned once by Pacifien for veering off-topic, so I'll have to agree that Quarians really aren't xenophobic. Just, mistrustful and wary of people from outside the fleet. I think that'd apply to Quarians born outside the fleet too.

@Nodscouter I just sent him a message through FB. I'm waiting for a response. I'm here, at least for the moment. I can't do a lot of stuff, though.

Saph may be right on this one, actually--when you spend most of your lifetime surrounded by people just like you, and when people unlike you treat you like dirt, you tend to think people like you are better than people not like you.

Being called "vas Normandy" was not bad because it was a human ship, but because it was not a quarian ship.  In effect, it was saying "you are no longer one of us."

We're on the same page on this one Nod.  Actually you bring up an interesting question. If a quarian is born outside the Fleet, which would seem rare, it would require some awfully special circumstances I would think.

(welcome back Ramirez :bandit:)

Sneaky off-topic there jacob.
Tali says herself that exiles can have children, and these children are welcomed back to the fleet.
However, we don't know how loosely she uses the term ''welcomed'', for all we know, they might be looked down upon at the moment of their arrival. Both for being children of someone exiled from the fleet, and for not being born on the fleet. I'm pretty sure they'd be considered ''outsiders'' as well.

I wonder if the fleet would accept aliens living on the flotilla. I mean, it'd be extremely rare, but if say a Turian or human or whatever would like to live on the fleet and do their part in helping it survive, do you think the admirality board would accept it?

Um...sneaky?....who me?

Actually, I was referring to the actual birth of a quarian infant outside the Fleet's special 'birthing facilities.' I suppose a standard clean room would suffice, but it would certainly need prep.  I'd like to think the quarian's would accept 'offworld' births back to the flotilla, without too much reservation, but I guess I haven't read anything specific.

The question of another race living aboard ship is kind of addressed in ' Retribution' or 'Ascension' ( I don't remember which at the moment) when the human child (Gillian ?) is sent on a long range voyage aboard the quarian vessel Idenna. It seems if the circumstances warrant it, then Tali's people will accomodate.

I can't image that a non-quarian would be able to 'live' in the Migrant Fleet. But I think that is more due to the limitations of their immune system than dislike or mistrust of other races. If quarians really came to accept a non-quarian, then they would bestow honours and stuff on them.

But it would be dangerous to have them living aboard the Migrant Fleet.

I hardly saw anyone running in fear from my Shepard and Garrus while we were on there.

Yup. The problem is that any not-quarian should be "quarantined" all the time, to avoid the risk of any minimal contamination: remember, a silly thing like a broken air filter killed Tali's mom... now think about all the possible accidents that an unwanted distraction or the mere presence of an alien on the Fleet could cause. If there's a future for Tali and Shep, or any interspecies couple, is not on the Flottilla.

I mean actually LIVING on the ship. Other races don't have the means or suits to be able to live in them. They have to eat, wash etc. And they needed a disinfectant team to welcome them in, and they had to be fully suited up.

Sure, non-humans can come for a visit. But living there would be entirely different.

It would have to be very controlled, you're right, but possible none the less. Don't think it would be much fun or freedom for the quest though. I'll have to talk Tali into living somewhere else  =]

Yeah, I think the Normandy loveboat would be suitable. ;)

Sure it would be possible. But I would see it as too much of a risk. And I wouldn't want to endanger the lives of quarians for just wanting to live on the Migrant Fleet, if my Shepard had choice.

Exceptional circumstances not withstanding, no, I don't think they would. They can't afford to give up much space to non-quarians. That fleet is their entire species. Though I suppose if someone was so useful that they justified any potential greater expenses and/or needs maybe they'd make an exception.

About humans / other races living in a Quarian ship:

---ASCENSION SPOILER---

In Ascension, Khalee, Gillian and Hendel live on a Quarian ship for like  a week, if I remember right. And in the end, Gillian and Hendel depart on that long exploration mission on the Idenna.

---SPOILER END---

...so living long-term aboard a Quarian ship is possible for humans. I think the Idenna crew can adapt some rooms to host "aliens", but is surely dangerous.

I also think that the Flotilla would give hospitality to Shepard without problems, if necessary. After all he's a bloody icon :D

I know, but that is a week. I'm talking about permanently living aboard the Migrant Fleet. It is far too risky for any of my Shepards to consider anyway. Unless they had no other choice. But they do.

I agree with that, it seems way easier the other way around, hm maybe we can even get Doc Solus to stick with us, he seems to be .... quite good ... at dealing with Talis Problems.

I also just realized that part of why I love Tali in ME2 so much is her constant reference to Minks from BG2 ^^...lets hope she gets his other catchphrase in ME3 you know...kicks and buts... wouldnt suprise me since she has so many BG2 jokes in her lines.

'Go for the optics!!' Love it! And Minsc was so great. But very different to Tali.

I got annoyed when I read on the ME wiki that Tali had similarities to Aerie?! Does she heck!

You can't really trust the ME or DA wiki's... lots of people put in stuff like that. Would've been nice if they had to confirm something or at the very least take out all personal opinions before editing it.
But, you can't always get what you want.

They're based both on the "gentle but mistreated girl" characterization, but that's all. Their stories and everything else about them is developed differently. Or at least, surely I hope that Tali won't be turned into a space vampire because I romanced her :pinched:

If they ever show her face Alien, don't be surprised if she has small fangs!

I hope she'll be more alien than just a space elf with fangs!

Asari are space elves, at least from a racial perspective: long lived, inherently magical, etc.

I, too, hope they do more than just smack some fangs and elf ears on Quarians if Bioware decides to show us Tali's face.
