It's in the novel Ascension. The quarians forge an expedition to find a new home world and/or a Reaper so that they can control the geth.
I was surprised this was not brought up at all in ME2. I can't wait to see Tali's reaction when her people become antagonists in ME3.
Thanks to jacobOriley for keeping me on topic.

I almost never read fanfics, but I did read Reckoning. I thought it was phenominal. Lividity Jones/Riptide (I think they are responsible for it) did a great job.Capt_Flashheart wrote...
Love the top pic.
After the ****storm that happened last page I think I'm gonna take a break from the threads for a few days to read this Reckoning fic I've been hearing about.

It is brought up in ME2. Go to the Zakara Ward food store (to the left past the C-Sec station) and you can "buy" both Revelation and Ascension for five credits each. They're directly referred to as "military fiction" written by a human named "Drew Karpyshyn."

I'll bet Bioware completely drops that plot thread anyway.

1: You go to war with the Geth, and Admiral Koris and his sympathizers make one last ditch effort to warn the geth, and you have to stop him.
2: Admiral Xen and her sympathizers appear to be in the process of committing disregard of history* after you broker peace between the geth and quarians and you have to stop her.
* = Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. Those who disregard history are doomed to do even worse.

The book summarizes the plot of Ascension, but it makes no mention of the quarian politics brought up in the actual novel.

They probably will.
In fact, having Drew's three novels count as "military fiction" within the franchise canon lets those of us who picked Anderson for the Council seat (and Goodwood is betting that it is most people) disregard the dangerous and idiotic things he does in Retribution, apart from not being on the Council.

And also that recent comic focusing on Captain Bailey states that Udina is the councilor for the Alliance now.

to stop him.
Mmm... I don't see that happening. Even if Koris
was opposed to the war I don't think he'd undermine it once it had
begun. Not in that way, at least.
2: Admiral Xen and her
sympathizers appear to be in the process of committing disregard of
history* after you broker peace between the geth and quarians and you
have to stop her.
Speaking of Xen, more specifically her
relation to Tali, I think Tali's opposition to her is completely
unfounded. Tali says she is crazy but I find that questionable. What Xen
is suggesting is the most practical way to get back the homeworld if
peace talks fail to deliver. Tali is opposed to those peace talks, and
opposed to war, so why does she oppose Xen? Tali seems to oppose everybody but offers no strategies of her own.
It's part of why she'd make a bad Admiral.

I don't think Tali would make such a 180 to turn on her own people, even if she knows that what they're doing is wrong. Maybe she'd try to convince them otherwise.
I don't know if I agree with you. That's why I want to find out. If her people commit to a course of action that puts them in opposition to Shepard, who will she choose? She was raised to follow orders and could never imagine fighting against her own people. I want to see her resolve put to the test and I want to see some quarian blood on her hands.
I've actually always thought Tali would be a great candidate for a "traitor". I can see it being something she'd be very reluctant to do, but that she'd go through with if it was what her people wanted. It definitely wouldn't be easy for her.

Not good enough. That was just poor leadership on her part. I want to see actually kill some quarians. She's spent a good portion of her life killing just about every other race in the galaxy. Time she cam full circle. I still say it might help her develop a more complete appreciation for the sanctity of life. It's easy to dehumanize humans or turians or batarians, but what about people who come from her culture? That's something else.

In theory, yes.
In practice... there is no practice. Xen's desire to re-enslave the Geth is just that; a desire. A dangerous folly that completely disregards the disaster that landed the quarian race in its current predicament.
In a way, Tali's opinions on the Homeworld Question mirror the entire Quarian fleet at large; torn.
And she is not irrevocably opposed to reconciliation with the Geth. Upper Left Blue in the Legion/Tali loyalty crisis?

I think quarians that deserves to die are few and rare.
Like Zel'Aenik nar Helash or Golo. And as Tali herself said, their people can't afford executions.

You think it would be a good character building exercise? Um...twisted logic is twisted. I'd rather not destroy her soul, and Tali's got a great personality as is.
You want to make Tali kill Quarians to test her resolve and loyalty to Shepard? Shepard has already earned her loyalty. Demanding her to prove it like that would be like asking her to choose between being shot in her left or right leg. Such tests would be sadistic and redundant.
You say it would give her a greater appreciation of life? Killing people gradually reduces the impact of death. Besides, Tali's reaction to the death of her father is more than enough evidence to show she already cares about who lives and dies.
Tali has fought combatant from many different races. That's not a reason for her to start fighting Quarians.Saphra Deden wrote...

I keep seeing this "Build Tali a Home" banner all over. Was that a creative piece of writing intended to further pathos in ME2, or will it be a part of ME3 as well? I would personally love it to be included, but only time will tell, I guess.
There are many fan fiction stories about finding a home for Tali. However, the banner you're refering to is designed to show support for closure to Tali's subplot in ME3. It doesn't refer to any specific creative writing.

Yeeees, but I doubt she's ever even thought about killing some of her own. So she might get some more respect for people's lives after that.Capt_Flashheart wrote...

Not that I care about the sanctity of life or want Tali to go on a murdering rampage on the Migrant fleet mind you.
