Well my Shepards are always bro and sis with their old dextro buddies from ME1. And depending on gender somewhat more than friends of course... Sure, all the dialouge isn't always there, I know, but you got to read a story in the way you prefer and let your imagination fill in the details missing.

He does have a point though. The quarians are useless compared to the geth. If there would be a choice between them, choosing the geth would be the wise and pragmatic choice if considering the Reapers. Siding with the quarians because of Tali would be highly irrational choice. As cute and perky as she might be, she's not worth the inevitable civilian and military losses as a result destroying the geth.

However, if it's possible to save both, of course that's what people should do. Unless they're renegade and hate their own mothers.
