If so, then getting Tali killed in ME2 would probably be for the best. Rather not hold on to that grenade in ME3 if I can avoid it.Saphra Deden wrote...
We should have to pick sides. Bioware needs to man up and stop letting us avoid making any really hard choices. Being able to get both squadmates loyal or talk your way out of Tali's trial was dumb.
Into the tunnels she goes - assign Grunt as fireteam leader. Instant success.

I'm sorry, but that simply isn't BioWare's style. And, God willing, it never will be. Throughout the long history of thier games they have always given the player some room into inducing tragic elements, and difficult choices. Baldur's Gate 1-2 are good examples of this. However, at it's core, BioWare has always endevoured to perfect the ideologies of Campbell's "Heroes Journey," with an emphasis on Hero. If one chooses one can have a dark or aggressive conclusion to your adventure, but there will always be the choice of the Hero's Path, as the term is classically defined. Dragon Age drifted close to a shades of gray epic, but still maintained enough core tenants of the Hero's Saga. Mass Effect 2 accomplished the same and there is no reason for them to alter this formulae for Mass Effect 3, especially with regards to Tali who is far too beloved to bring a single tragic or impossible element into her story. However, I don't speak for everyone. How BioWare has forged thier games, characters, and respective narratives thus far appeal to Me.

Someone sometime ago wanted a military themed Mass Effect team dextro image, this is what I came up with.
EDIT: Fixed now, the original link wasn't working.

I have a theroy along the lines of this..... but its extremely dark.
In ME3, Shepard gets into a pickle in the escalating last battle between his forces and the Reapers. The situation becomes dire, much like Normandy SR1 exploding except there are no escape pods kind of bad. But the Flotilla warps in to reinforce the losing side. Some Com chatter between Normandy and Tali with the Flotilla, which gets cut off. The flotilla is direct intercept course to the Reapers and their attacks on the broadside while Shepard watches helplessly. Depending on the relationship of Tali, Shepard's reaction changes. The camera cuts to the inside the Flotilla where everyone knows that they are about to sacrifice their ships, thus themselves, to shield the weakened forces. So one by one (or collectively if it suits your imagination better), they all take off their masks, including Tali. They know they won't need them after this. A small pause to take in all the quarian faces and then flash of white light and cut back to outside view of the flotilla that just gets demolished by the Reapers. It was enough time for Shepard to retreat, and/or warp out or whatever needed to be done.

Thanks but no thanks, because this scenario implies that A: Tali won't be a full squadmate and B: That her dead will be unavoidable.

IMO, so what if it's saccharine? I'm a bit of a sap/hopeless romantic, so anything sweet or hokey would be a-ok by me.

I imagine it would be possible to see Tali's face (if Bioware decides to go that route) no matter what choice you make. After all, why would only one group who chose one way get to see the face and the others wouldn't? I would see it regardless because I'll probably end up playing through ME3 many, many times the same way I've played through ME2, but not everyone plays through the ME games multiple times. It would only be fair, really. And perhaps her face reveal would be different in each situation, depending on choices made in the game.

That was my point, until now Tali's personal hystory was one of the most variable ones in the whole saga, the eventual face reveal should happen in a very crucial moment, or being achievable in different ways, depending how the player dealed with her. The Death-Darth-Vader-like scenario was only one of the range of possibilities I hypotized. Surely I hope that who romanced her will discover how she looks like not in a tragic moment.

Definintly, like I said, its dark and I don't want it either.
Just one road that Bioware could take...

I'm doing one playthrough of ME1 right now with a total xenophobic/dick Shepard. He's going to kill the Rachni, off Shiala, not rescue the council, not release Grunt from his tank, give Legion to Cerberus, don't complete alien loyalty missions, etc, etc.
I just want to see how a totally "screwed" playthrough ends in ME3, lol.
I initially wanted to play him as a xenophobe who views aliens as useful tools, but he would get too many Paragon points that way.
