But it may not be fair to expoit them in that way.

Awww, that's cute.

Life isn't fair, not in the Mass Effect universe, and not in this one.

There is a file somewhere that mentions one of the reason's the quarian's are thought poorly of is because many large companies knowing the quarian's knack for tech, make secret arrangements to hire them for less wages and higher abilities. Mutually beneficial to both, but it anger's those worker's they displace.

Nashiktal wrote...Tech expertise is actually what causes such a big drain on resources. Which is one reason why so many species hates the Quarians at the moment.

The reading I've found in game mentions more the fact that the quarian's are natural miner's as well as tech's. The drain on resources in a system is from mining for raw materials to produce the materials needed to keep the Fleet going. Many systems avoid this by offering up goods to the fleet to avoid the lose of resources.

Tali's people need to put their feet on the ground in a planet/system they can harvest/manage on their own.

Or start getting some better weapons/training in, Those migrant marines are laughable at best.

I find this most interesting because it can be spun to portray the quarians as bullies who extort resources from other races.

They aren't portrayed very well in game, but against your Shepard and squad who doesn't look laughable.

They get a worse reputation than they deserve. Even on Freedom's Progress they still managed to take down one of the heavy mechs (there were two).

Haestrom goes without saying.

With the Alerai we don't really know how many were lost, but close quarters fighting would be bloody.

Of course it can be spun that way.....anything can be spun to suit one's views. But when you deny 17 million people a place to plant their feet and an unwelcome mat in every system they pass through, what would you expect?

Well yeah thats just it, We havent' seen em portrayed outside of that. If they're used in the books i wouldn't know i don't have any. It wasn't meant as a hardcore insult lol.

Well when you strip mine my system and cost me job, plunging my loved ones and I into poverty, why do you get so uppity when I donate money to Cerberus and Terra-Firma? Damned quarians are a burden on everyone around them. That's just a fact.

Now I understand their side of it too. They really have no choice. Utimately every race is just looking out for itself, but it does mean that the quarians are essentially extortionists. That's probably the main reason they have such a poor standing in the galactic community.

I didn't think you were, I was actually agreeing with what we see in game. In the novel's they're not quite the pushover's they're portrayed as in game, but they do have a disadvantage against 'special forces' training.

There's not much you can do against heavy mechs and air assaults either.

They're a burden because they're not allowed a place of their own. That's the real fact.

"extortionist" is an inflamatory word used to spin a viewpoint.

Yeah it probably doesn't help they aren't well equipped, which speaking of where do they get their arms? I'd hope just because their quarians doesn't mean they get barred from trading.

No, it's the truth.

"Give me resources or I'll send in my fleet to strip mine your system, put your people out of work, and clog up the ports, fuel stations, and mass relays for weeks."

You're better than this Saph.....nowhere in game does it even suggest that the quarian's send out ransom demands. Tali's people aren't extortionists, they're a wayward race of nomad's because they lost their home world.

Well, there's that moment where Tali jokes about the fleet parking outside the Synthetic Insights' HQ, but not much else besides that.

Actually it is all right there in the codex.

Edit:

Also the Tali "joke" is anything but. The reason her little ruse works is because the fleet can and probably has done that. People fear it because it is costly and inconvenient. Tali's willingness to use it to threaten an innocent SI rep is further proof of that.

Tali is a bully too. It's just in her blood. Vagrants and thugs, those quarians.

Saphra you are one of the most successful trolls I have ever seen. You REALLY know how to stir a crowd.
Back to topic: So wait, the whole orgin or basis of the Quarian racism is a version of "they took our jobs"?

Thats....dissapointing. Especially for the council races.

I'm sure they're well aware of their impact on a system, but that's a long way from deliberate extortion. To tell the truth, I wish they would practice a little extortion on cerberus controlled entities.  Tali could knock on TIM's door and personally hand him the note.

Really? The same races who created an entire society based around racial discrimination and profiling? You are surprised?

Besides, why blame people for being angry at losing their jobs? "They took our jobs" is by no means a trivial complaint. Have you ever lost your job or been unable to find work?

In any case, I'm not trolling, just presenting a truthful but unpopular opinion. Well, less an opinion, more a fact.

As was said, Tali even backs this up. Poor girl is her own worst enemy.

Saphra is right, at least partially. The Quarians are on their own in the Galaxy. They are not fully welcome in citadel space, the Terminous systems could tear their fleet apart if they are caught off guard... They have to be bullies to survive.

Now no one,Quarian or Citadel species, is going to go so far as to cause a conflict over this. However The Quarians know just what to pull to get what they need. No one at this point is going to give them charity (except maybe humanity, whom they have no official relationship yet. So a clean slate.)

Its a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. No one will give the Quarians aid at first becuase of the geth, so the Quarians do what they have to for resources. In doing what they need for resources, the Quarians further sully their reputation. Then because their reputation is so bad no one will give them aid...

You get the idea.

Right there. No need for that little addition. But you do. Because you know I or anyone else will find that it won't compute with our little internet minds, that we will have to correct you drawing us into argument. One of which you will never give up. Succesful Trolling at its finest. No vulgar words or stupid gimmicks to gain immediate attention, just "harsh truths" as you like to call them, resulting in extended conversations. Exquisite form to say the least.

OT: A good question I would think is if it weren't for the morining war and the resulting destruction of the Quarians, would they have been a Council race by the time Humanity became a space faring race?
