Hmm, that's interesting, Collider. I didn't know that.

What about the Thane letter? That was a nice touch for the devs. I just wish they did something like that for all the LI's. Jack seemed into poetry for example.

To me the suit logs seemed to be something that was supposed to be romance specific - especially when she buys the immuno boosters at the end. That would really make the most sense if Shepard romances her. It seems to be a bug that it shows up in it's entirety for all Shepards.

That makes sense. I thought it was just showing Tali's crush over shep at first, but I had trouble figuring the timeline for it.

Interesting thing I found.
"Rejecting" Tali at the romance scene doesn't end the romance.
They're still together, they just haven't "been" together. If you talk to her after not doing the romance scene, you get the regular repeating romance dialog, and you can invite her to your cabin. I wonder if they set a flag for if you didn't do the romance scene, for import into ME3.

Pff. Why didn't they just add a "I have a headache right now. Maybe later?" option? :P

Speaking of LotSB, its a shame we never get to see Tali's survivor guilt in character. That would have added a lot to her "arc."

Maybe it's my cold, but you lost me on this one.

Shadow Broker dossier on Tali has a message she was trying to write to the families of those who died on haestrom. She never managed to finish and send it.

Didn't you read her dossier in LotSB? The one where she is trying to write to the families of those who died in her team.

Heh, yea, that would have been less ambiguous.

Yes I did, but I wasn't sure that was what you were refering to. I never would have put it terms of survivors guilt not being expressed in her character arc in game other than it's fairly obvious she dealing with it quietly, keeping it to herself. There's a whole boatload of stuff in the character dossier's aboard the SB ship, that fill in some of the only guessed at character development up to that point.

A buddy of mine thinks tali and shephard are starting to become a cannon romance, going back to her dossier in LotSB that you guys brought up. I read some of the stuff she purchased (another forum user had actually brought it to my attention first), the gist of what i saw was her trying to understand human body language and mating as well as um...suit stimulants? Then there's the way she just acts around Shephard period, she seems to show more care than the other LI's.

Maybe im just lookin into it a bit much, but idk it does kind of show in volumes over the other characters, with liara the only one who seems to come as close. Then again i know BW wouldn't make a cannon romance like that...or would they o.O?

Liara is easily the closest to a canon romance, I think. If Bioware were to choose a canon romance for Shepard, it would almost certainly by Liara, one would think.

But really, there are no canon romances. Tali's romance does have the greatest foundation (about equal with Garrus) though.

That's one of the best descriptive word's to use for those romances. Since there really is no canon romance, a foundation from the beginnings of ME would be about the best you could say. And Tali, Garrus and Liara all have that foundation.

Yeah thats what i said, i mean liara's reaction to seein you on ilium definitely proves that much.  In a game  thats core story revolves around what we do there can't be cannon romances. Just what my buddy thought, im too new to make big assumptions like that lol.

I agree with this. It was just brilliant how they spinned Tali's romance, her observing you from afar and thinking shep would never see who she was beyond the mask. Very sweet.

Yeah I was touched at how Shepard (optionally) could tell Tali he would miss her when she left to fulfill her pilgrimage. Though they didn't talk much I got the feeling there was a young friendship or bond between them by that point in the game, and Tali was (as revealed in ME2) awe-struck by what she witnessed Shepard accomplish in the whole Saren/Geth/Sovereign affair.

So it wasn't any surprise when she said in ME2 that Shepard was worth all the money spent to bring him back, and everything that followed.

This comes from someone who played ME2 first ( yeah really )...I wondered at the end of my first ME2 play through, what the hell I missed in ME1 when I listened to some of Tali's dialogue leading up to the romance. I immediately played ME1 and went through every conversation option I could with her on the original Normandy and then stayed celibate until my first import. There is a lot of 'foundation' in ME1 that the dev's took advantage of to make her an LI in ME2.

Lol lot of my friends did that too, honestly i can see why. ME1 was hard to stomache at first, so much going on and not enough explanation. ME2 was/is a quantum leap forward, but eh i don't want to ****** tali off in ME3 so i need to go unass my unintentional ashley romance.

Yep, talk to her again after giving her a copy of the Geth data, but before going to Ilos.

I can't remember exactly, but the conversation might be triggered by events on Vermire, so it may not happen until after that.

Naw, just start a new Shepard and keep both for a different play through in ME3. I've got 6 Sheps for import and intend to have a couple of more.

I am also currently in a new playthrough in ME1. I really love this old game, played it over twenty times through, but I am really starting to feel the age in the game. I am especially dreading the Mako sidemission portions.

If it wasn't for the fact I am trying to reach level 60, I would skip all the sidequests that have no effect in ME2.

Follow that tip about the geth data and Tali, explore all the conversation wheel that you're comfortable with and you'll find the next play through in ME2 will endear Tali to you, just that much more.

(don't hesitate to explore the other LI's.......ssh, I didn't say that out loud)

Well of course you do! its just finishing that game in its entirety MANY times gets a bit... Tedius.
