The same goes for Tali and her general people, you gain somewhat of a respect for them being essentially nowhere, and having to make do, and you generally want to help them out, but then get a choice to essentially see what they want to do about the Geth, as well as getting interested in Tali herself being nieve initially but clearly learning from what is put in front of her, her love for your Shepard is very "cute" (ugh I feel dirty for using such a word), due to how shy she is and it is interesting how you can persue her affection, choosing to, or not to have her take her mask off to you which is in no means a small thing, no matter how screened the Normandy is, it is not designed for her race.
The same goes for Garrus, who can easily be lead down multiple paths, of good and somewhat amiss, making him think more about his situation, or turning him into Space Batman with his revenge killing.
I do find it slightly dissapointing that there are no 'evil' characters in the entire series that you can team up with, perhaps for better use of Renegade options, or have them carry out said options for you as a natural player characteristics (similar to Wrex shooting Fist whether you like it or not). Mind you... Evil seems to be a bit watered down in character design these days, always seems to be hell bent on destruction and not manipulation and trickery, afterall, sometimes the easiest way to be evil, is to have people pereive you as good, only to use them for your own gains, which ironically is the easiest route to power generally these days, even in good/evil choice games.
Still, I wont look too far into good/evil, just the fact that character development is generally more interesting than the games official plotline, especially if you like your characters, you want to help them, not be forced to help them (like in ME2 for loyalty which is 'required').

No top for you Faust!
