It's not about "forcing" romances, because they're not, but the ambient dialogue is forced, and it breaks the immersion. Having to walk on eggshells dodging the romance dialogue and wondering if he's getting turned on from my bro-hug due to him literally being turned on by the same bro-hug in a different sequence.

That's not what I'm talking about though. I'm talking about Shepard, not Garrus or any other pre-existing love interest. I do think it's best that they leave Garrus etc as is and make new love interests as same sex romances.

So far as avoiding romance dialog, that is a problem, but I think that Bioware has been progressively getting better at making the triggers obvious (ME2 was quite obvious with the Garrus/Thane/Tali romances and you always had a way out, DA2 has the intent icons) so I'm not worried too much about that. Whatever they come up with, it seems likely that they'll make the triggers more obvious.

Indeed. Once I found out most of the characters were returning (a thought I wasn't entertaining so my heart wouldn't be broken) I couldn't get into TW2 hype. Then they actually revealed how ME3 was going to be jam-packed full of epicness in RPG and action and every other element.
Damn you Bioware.

Damn them (twice) <_< But make ME3 the most EPIC game ever and I'll forgive you

Give Jacob a chance, Kasumi doesn't really change anything. He has a pretty dynamic romance that I hear "the prize" turned people away from (among other things related to femShep)

Well, I will gladly let Jacob in Kasumi's hands, I never liked him, he was boring :P

Oookay, this sounds creepy

I just heard that Tali will be yet another permanent squadmate.

This is good. Garrus, Tali, and Liara make a great team. Now only if Mordin will come back in permanent capacity...

And there is this. that can be interpreted several ways.

Jack and Tali actually made a lot of sense for S/S romances in 2.

I love that convo. Its soo sweet.      I think theres always been something more there if you want it.  Tali clearly adores Shepard regardless of gender.

I could care less about Shepard, the characters are the only reason I play the game.

If the GI scans hold any weight, there are no new LI.

Now they need to work on the ambient dialogue being less obvious :pinched:

Tali is too polite to say that openly to Shep.
But I still think that new romances shouldn't be possible since there won't be another game to build up the relationship.
They'd be like "last-minute" romances for those who haven't chosen yet.

That's how I feel. I'm quite anticipatory of how they will handle that, especially given the many factors concerning your import (or lack thereof)

From Casey's words about Thane, Zaeed, and Mordin, it seems "they are out there doing something appropriate to their character", so I think all 3 aren't permanent. I hope I'm wrong.

Same. I'm glad that the squad mates are back, otherwise I wouldn't be too interested in ME3. I don't think Shepard is a great protagonist and the reapers largely bore me.

I like the Reapers but maybe I imagine them as something more than they really are. Hope they will finally uncover something about them in ME3.
But ME's great characters are the most important reason to play ME3 for me. ^_^

BW just needs to put in an option at the start of the game to set allowable types of romances. One click and no worries about bro-hug turning in bro-grope and the same for the gals as well. Easy to implement.

But, for the record.  Tali is straight.  No if's, and's or Butt's!

If they do things correctly (make the romance triggers obvious), they'd never need such a thing.

Thanks, that's pretty interesting. I feel bad for all the LI who are being replaced by the new ones, tho. Continuity is overrated, I spose.

I don't dislike Shepard, he's pretty much me, a boring ol' human with morals of my own choosing. The characters aka everyone else, have unknown motivations that I find interesting.

And don't we already know the Reaper's intentions? A want for perfection?

So, there's been many tweets lately about new romances in ME3 from Casey and the like.

Would you like if Tali is bi in ME3?

No SWM, I would not like Tali turning bi in ME3. Thanks for asking.
P.S This is my personal opinion, I think there is value in keeping her a romance just for Male Shepard.

Meh, it won't make anyone's romance invalid. So I don't care.

At least I may be able to actually romance her on my canon now.

I don't think Casey's comment proves anything other than him wanting to tell you...well, not to believe everything you read. The developers have said the same thing about things that were actually true and did actually happen in the game. We were teased with "don't believe everything you hear" when there were rumors about Tali's romance pre-ME2 and well...you know what happened.

If I recall the context in which that post from Casey was made. It was more about the massive flames coming due to Cerberus actively hunting down Shepard. I could be wrong but I do believe I'm correct here.

Well, I never said I dislike Shep either. In fact I can say the same thing as you.

Indeed we know their intentions, but that's all. I would like to find out more about them, history especially. How they were created and by who for example. How are they able to act as one being with so many minds inside them.
How exactly works indoctrination... Can't think of anything specific right now but I have so many questions

No doubt. I already like the Reapers because of the unknowns, even if Saren was a better villain imo for the emotional strings he pulled.

It doesn't help that the article quotes him saying "Like I say, we’re not introducing any new characters that are going to be love interests." Casey is craaayZ.

I think it was a romance question, actually.

Then my old age has finally adled my brain.
It could still be true even if via retcon Kaidan and Ashley now support Bi relations now.  They're not 'new' LI's.  So, Casey didn't exactly lie nor did he tell the truth.

Emotions and Reapers somehow don't fit together but maybe BW will prove me wrong, it wouldn't be the first time
But the unknowns so far are enough for me if they'll be uncovered at least partly at some point.
