I have an idea that may provide a solution to the problem of whether Bioware should reveal Tali's face, what she looks like, and the fans reaction to it...
Looking through the (many) pages of discussion regarding what she could look like, there are many diverse opinions and lots of brilliant ideas and fan art. So, from Bioware's point of view, getting this right is going to be tough. Therefore, the 'reveal' needs to be done in such a way that you are not going to judge Tali purely based upon what she looks like (I am sure many of you won't do that anyway, but I am aiming for the most favourable approach for all ME3 players). Consider a situation like this:
During the game, Shepard and the team are faced with overwhelming odds and attempting to escape from a planet, but cannot because...(e.g. the drop ship is grounded by Cerberus and only a hacker with tech skills can manually override the planets main computer and free the ship). Tali then sacrifices herself to assist Shepards escape but is left behind on the planet along with certain death. Tali makes this choice because she realises Shepard is the only one who can save the galaxy, and so sacrifices herself so he can. After escaping, Shepard then continues to fight the Reaper invasion while wondering if Tali is alive or dead. After stopping the reapers, you make your way to the planet where you left Tali, only to find mass devastation and a barely alive Tali. Her suit is torn and her mask smashed. You finally see her face. At this point, after sacrificing herself to save you, and as she lies dying in your arms, are you going to tell her you dont like the way she looks? My guess is, you won't even be thinking about her face, but wondering what you can do to save her.
I think something like this may solve the problem of how to present Tali's appearance, as at the point of death, you realise that staying alive is the most important thing (and thus, increased acceptance of however she looks)...
