I know I girl in real life who works as a combat engineer. When I asked her what guns she gets to use, you know what her response was?
"Shotguns." 
Hopefully we won't have to wait much longer to see screenshots of Tali in ME3 using some awesome new shotguns (*cough*showTaliatE3coverageorelse*cough*cough* sorry something stuck in my throat).

Gotta love Tali full stop.

Combat Engineers tend to engage in a lot close quarters fighting.  They use a lot of explosives to clear out fortified positions as well as mortars (short range, highly destructive light artillery).  They are outstanding at fighting in urban areas as well.

Since a lot of what they do has them in close contact with enemies, it makes sense for them to carry shotguns.

It's kind of funny, though, that in Mass Effect, engineers are more effective from medium range, using powers mostly, and relying on firearms only when an enemy closes with them.  IMO, an ME2 Sentinel with shotgun or assault rifle training that concentrated on developing his tech powers is more similar to a real combat engineer than the engineer class.

Hehe, I think this is a time for me to post a TF2 Engineer Tali. (Cuz I love TF2 and Tali.) Just build em turrets/sentry guns, sit back and enjoy the show .

Someone should get a Mod for Team Fortress 2 that is Mass Effect skins.

Tali is the Engineer, obviously.
Spy is Kasumi
Sniper - Garrus and/or Legion (Perhaps changes depending on which Team color you are?)
Grunt and/or Wrex are the Heavy (Also color based?)
Pyro - Jack?
Scout - Thane?
Soldier - Ash or Shepherd?  Or the other Krogan that's not the heavy?
Demoman - Jack?
Medic - Mordin

I support this idea! And no, I play TF2 on Steam on my PC with a group on there. Got the Valve complete pack (sorry, just had to be one step further )

I think that is pretty damn accurate Link. Think Grunt would be heavy and Wrex would be soldier. Legion would also make a good spy if Garrus is the sniper

Now I really want Tali to make sentry guns in ME3 (even though they are really annoying on TF2!!)

Well for what it's worth, and though it may be a little OT, there is a mod that let's you change your L4D2 Characters into those of Mass Effect ones. I've actually been trying to turn the Jockey into Harbinger (assuming control sound files and all), but editing L4D2 is a real **** sometimes.

And I prefer playing as the Scout. So Scout = Tali suits me

So well, I read the first thread, but I kind of, passed on reading all the 591 pages, hope you don't mind the rudeness (lol).

SO talking about Tali, and talking about her towards ME3, here's one thing I'm sure DOZENS of people have already discussed, and talked about; I would love to see Tali much more prepared in the next game, much more let's call it "pro", Tali is by far, when it comes down to "experience" the most young asset on Shepard's team, in the first game, she's right in the middle of her Pilgramage, still a young lady that hasn't quite reached maturity and is exploring the world for experience, knowledge and lessons of value to be able to be a woman (which, the fact of not being able to romance her in the first game, makes a lot of sense), in the second one, she's "new" as well in the world of an "adult", she has succesfully completed her Pilgramage, and although she has proved her ability in combat, Haestrom was an experience she still had to face, and thus, she's gained even more knowledge towards the future, her travels with Shepard are making her stronger and stronger, and each combat she learns more and more. And after surviving the suicidal mission to the collectors base, she's ready for the next assault.
Now we're in ME3, talking in hypothetics, I want to find a Tali that's already grown up, not only on the outside, but also as a warrior, a survivor, someone who has proven herself, who has made mistakes, who have taken the best out of them, who got strength and endured what rained on her, she's now a veteran on Shepard's side, and she has learned more than one trick, making her lethal in combat, much more efficient, she knows her place now, and she's not going to be easy to take down, Mr Reapers.

Sorry I got a bit emotional xD BUT YEAH I would love to see Tali in the next game kind of like Garrus in the second one, they already suffered defeat, but they overcame it, and became stronger. In game it can easily be translated as, "make her more powerful" but, that'd be too simple, I also want on the role aspect to see her talking with even more confidence than before, resoluted and strong.

BUT, that's just me :3
