I think it's pretty obvious to the forum users & Bioware (more so Bioware) that all of the hate stems from the non-registered games forum.

That... is a real good point.

Anyone mind sending me a Clan Zorah invite? I keep getting group invites and friends invites from people I don't even know.

I'd like to join, myself.

EDIT: Forgot to put a picture :P

Hey, Um.. Tali Fans...

Just wondering here... I'm getting a little tired of all the obvious Anti-Tali posts in the General Discussion forum. I was trying to think of something to fire back with that wouldn't get locked for being in the wrong forum.

So far I'm drawing a blank. Anyone got any ideas? Doesn't have to be complicated.

Don't even bother. That's what those losers want. I think the only to deal with them is just ignore and report. It's irritating, I know, but don't give in to the trolls, no matter how stupid they are.

Eh, I don't want their influence to be felt by the developers. Not that i'm losing sleep over that possibility...

That thought crosses my mind sometimes (the influencing the developers part). But then I look at it from Biowares perspective...imagine you are on the ME development team; you have just spent years planning and developing a triology of games, spent many sleepless nights constructing an engaging narrative, developing characters that have a well thought out and considered back-story, listened to constructive feedback from supporters...and then some trolls appear on your forums that you use for feedback, to slag off characters you have developed, and make your fans feel guilty about enjoying something you have worked so hard in creating! Considering that viewpoint, I would take a guess that Bioware feel the same way about Tali-haters as we do.

Personally, I admire Bioware for the obvious hard work they have put into Tali's development. They have managed to create a character that people have enjoyed following and engaging with over many years. She has brought a lot to the Mass Effect games and my enjoyment of them, and is one of the reasons I will be buying ME3! I think other developers would give their right arm to be able to create a game with characters that create such strong feelings amongst their fan base. The last thing I want is to play a game where I feel nothing about the characters or content. That is a poor game in my book...

Yeah, considering Bioware evidently listen to their fans a lot and put a lot of work into their games, it is unfair that their work is so often trolled. Especially with their characters such as Tali. I don't know why she gets all the hate anyway.

But mind you, I absolutely love quarians (and funny enough, I love them even more after reading Ascension.)

Very well said! I agree with you completely both regarding the BioWare perspective and the way Tali was handled and developed as a character in the games...
In fact I still have to find a character I dislike in this series (and by dislike I mean "badly developed", since I neve understood how one can actually "hate" a fictional character...)

@Bearcut: Nice seeing you here... :)

Tali gets trolled because she's the most popular and most-loved character. Although, if I were a troll, I would be aiming for Ashley now. Tali fans don't react much to the trolling anymore, but the Ashley fans explode (Not meaning to give anyone ideas, mind).

I've heard a lot of people say Ascension is the most well-done of the Mass Effect books, mind giving me a very vague and spoiler-free idea of what it's about? If possible.

It is about a powerful biotic child who is covertly monitered by Cerberus in a biotic programme called the 'Ascension Project.' She is withdrawn from the project and goes on the run with her (dad) and two of her mentors back on the Ascension project. But there is a sub plot with a heavy emphasis on quarians. And you learn a lot about their culture.

And I think Ashley fans wouldn't mind because she is confirmed as a squaddie for ME3. And yes, Tali is a very much loved character. But there isn't nearly as many trolls for Garrus. Some people are indifferent to him, but we practically NEVER get trolls on the Garrus thread, and he is the most popular character (perhaps) in Mass Effect.

I think trolls are just jealous of Tali Posted Image

I suppose I can't explain the Garrus anti-troll zone. Maybe they're just scared of him. Although, anyone who's seen Tali in a cutscene, should be scared.

Liz Sroka has said that she made up her own accent for Tali's voice.

And yeah, just look at my sig for reasons why trolls are scared of Garrus ;)

None of the above. She has a Tali accent. Although, half the Quarians we meet have accents similar to Tali's, and the other half don't really have any to speak of. Tribal differences FTW?

Garrus emanates badass so much he indoctrinates people not to hate him by mere proximity (proximity being in the league of the 3 to 7 Parsecs)...

@wilhelm Screamer: Tali's VO, Liz Sroka said she made up the accent herself... Bioware liked it so much they gave it to some of the other quarians too (in particular her father, lol)...

Is it just me, or did Mass Effect suddenly get even more awesome?

It's pretty much just the people on the Rayya that have the accent, so I'd guess it's a local thing.

Would be a little weird if a whole race had the exact same accent too.

Considering Quarian youth re-establish in random ships long after they've settled on an accent, maybe it's a family thing? Mix of accents throughout all of the ships, due to the deliberate mishmashing of everyone?

Edit: Oh, good. At the same second I read about an entirely new accent created by Tali's VA for Tali, which was adopted for half of the other Quarians by Bioware, there was a rumble and a shake and my ME1 & 2 game cases fell on the floor.

Interesting resume. Here's hoping the Mass Effect fame helps her get noticed. Be nice to see Liz, or Ash now I guess, get picked up for a large TV or movie role.

Now, if they did a Mass Effect movie about the events in ME1, the VA's for Tali, Wrex, Garrus, and probably Liara could all play their own characters, due to them needing to be very physically distorted into aliens anyways. Not sure about Shepard or the VS, but Seth Green and Joker are the same creature.

OT, but I'd mind an ME1 movie as much as I mind the existence of other people's playthroughs. Sure, maybe I would have chosen differently, but to reject it because it's not your exact playthrough isn't reasonable if you don't live in a perfect world.

Pffft, blue jeans. Tali's legs are too awesome to be covered in drab blue fabric; Purple and black FTW!
