You people do know.. they take off there suits... All be it it may not be for a while but they don't LIVE in the thing.

They do outside of the Migrant Fleet. They have compartments for 'waste' that goes out which they empty every so often.

Inside the Migrant Fleet, they have shower rooms that are specially sterile so quarians can take off their suits there. They also don't get a suit until they 'come of age' 16 or 18? And of course, in situations like Shala'Raan and Tali's mother.

So apart from that, they do live in their suits

While some what true we don't know if Quarians have found way to at least disinfect a room long enough to remove there suit long enough to bathe with that said all I mean is if people are basing the suit for the lack of hair it a poor area to use. They can remove it fairly easy, also I could bet in the day of age of ME there is some kind of cleaning programs.

I don’t know I am just kinda tired of the same old same old, I know people dislike the "Star trek" race but it not like the Universe is overfilled with them the closet we have are Asari and they got squid hair...

I think Bioware have shown some really imaginative alien designs, especially the turians. And quarians could have hair, I am not opposed to it, as long as they don't look too human. I'm happy.

And they can disinfect a room for long enough to bathe on the Migrant Fleet. The bathing rooms there are described as pretty special because it is the only 'safe' place they can remove their suits. It wouldn't be convenient having hair if you wear an enviro suit all the time, but with the tech in Mass Effect, I'm sure there will be some way for quarians to (hypothetically) manage their hair while in a suit.

It would just be the ultimate in silly to think the Tali and the quarian's don't have a way to take care of their hygene needs, even when away from the flottila.

As far as the hair topic... no other alien has hair so lets not break the patern it would also help to make them more alien in appearance.

But see that my point thou why can't Quarians be mammals I mean let be honest there 3 reptilian racers ((Drell, Krogan, Tuiran ((Ok so there not Reptilian per say but they look like it)), an insect race Salarain, and a Plant race Asari. Now Quarians cannot be insects do to the fact there planet.. has none and it said there not plants, and even to go one step further have mammary glands.

I mean I know people like different, but for mass effect another Mammal race would be different.

Trying not to be rude....you're saying you'd like the quarian's to be mammal's? and that they could be alien in looks and still be considered mammals?

If that's what your saying (sorry about over simplifying your wording), sure why not. I believe it's already been established many times they are mammal's. Mammal species can and do look quite "alien".

Your connection with no insects=no plants however, is incorrect. The plant life on Rannoch uses the animal species to pollinate, instead of the insects. Which is why many claim that it would be natural for the quarian's to have some sort of body hair as well.

I just re-read your post and I think you said quarian's can't be insects or plants......(no insult intended, but maybe you could proof read your post before you submit? It would help me understand.)

To me hair won't make them look too human because they already have an alien body shape, feet, and hands. Give their eyes some exotic flare and they'll work just fine without being baldies.

Also even outside the Migrant Fleet I doubt it is that big a deal to disinifect a small bathroom and remove their suits for a little while. Just find an air tight room (shouldn't be hard on a space station or space ship), spray it with disinfected, wipe it down. There will still be stuff in the air, but quarians aren't THAT fragile. If Tali can survive being shot (twice), and having sex, then I'm sure a few dust partciles won't give her too much trouble.

Err... Drell are amphibious (they look most like a newt, with their gill slits), though that makes it very strange that they're arid and not humid. Anyways, I thought Krogan were reptilian, but I seem to recall someone saying the devs modeled them after something completely different, that they look nothing like. Moving on, Turians are supposedly half reptile half bird, although neither of those have exoskeletons... Salarians are reptilian/amphibian (they look like salamanders to me), and the Asari are aquatic.


Quarians are mentioned as the only other mammalian species of alien. It would make sense that they'd have hair, as mammals don't have feathers, and only very rarely beaks or scales.


And to the post above... Quills are deffinately plausible, though no good for prolificating spores...

Sure they are. Quills are embedded in musculature and can be moved voluntarily. Crawl in a bush and give them a good shake. Also, hair is hardly the best solution for that anyway.

And in my mind, mammal is used in only the broadest sense when describing quarians. They can't actually be mammals seeing as they didn't evolve on Earth. It's just he most convenient group to put them in and doesn't imply to me that they must share all characterisitcs of terrestrial mammals.

I think that Tali having hair is a good idea, and will be a good look for her. As quite a few people have mentioned already, humans seem to be the only race in the ME world with hair, so it will be nice to see another race capable of growing it.

I think this has been suggested before, for the same reasons you mentioned.
