I read your story, quite nice up to now...
It may be a bit difficult to come up with something without knowing the complete contest for the bonding you thought up (and I definitely do not want spoilers), but let's see...
*this is a stub on what I think you may do, given what I read on your story up to now... I'm going in blind so it may be all balderdash: fell free to change, adapt, cut or even ignore anything if you have different plans...*
After following Tali's voice and finding her it may go something like this (all the "..." are to imply Tali's voice is distant, like a projection)...
Shep: Tali!?
Tali: Yes, it's me... Don't worry, you are safe...
Shep: Where are we? Is this part of the ceremony?
Tali: Well, yes... This is part of the bonding... We are inside your... "mind"... in a way... We effectively are both experiencing the same dream...
Shep: How is it possible? Is this like the Asari mind melding?
Tali: No, not exactly... I can not scan your genetic memory or even see your actual memories... It's more like... hum... It's really difficult to put in words so that you'd understand... I explained about our biology... How we developed a symbiotic relationship with our native environment... due to our planet lack of insect life...
Shep: Yeah, I remember. It caused your immune systems to evolve to be weak.
Tali: True... But it also caused our bodies to evolve the ability to... hum... Secern a peculiar substance under certain conditions... Said subtance is capable of amplifying and conducting neuro-chemical impulses...
Some sort of... biological link to the outside... in a way...
Shep: Amazing... I had no idea you were capable of that...
Tali: Our ancestors discovered that by imbibing certain substances extracted from plants native to our evironment the effects of this link could be... enhanced... so long as the subject imbibing it was capable of totally emptying and relaxing his or her mind... That allowed us to armonize with the feelings and thought patterns of another member of our species via physical contact... Some sort of... deep social empathy...
Shep: So that's what the compound was... But wait, I'm no Quarian and wouldn't I suffer allergic reaction for dextro-chiral substances?
Tali: Indeed... I had to... do some research... You know... to find a way to synthetize a similar substance compatible with your physiology... Mordin was very helpful...
Shep: I see... So basically we are sharing sensations and... "dreams"?
Tali: More or less... When we were primitive our elders would often use this ability to... "commune with the ancestors"... and young couples would commit to a... bonding ceremony... to prove the willingness to share everything their mate had... mind and body...
Even after abandoning religion to secularism... the bonding ceremony still remained... as an important gesture of trust and acceptance... similar to what the linking of suits is now...
Shep: Wow... I'm a bit overwhelmed by all this.
Tali: I know... Sorry for not telling you sooner... But *insert reason for not telling here*
Shep: I see. Don't worry, I understand... Anyway, I guess there's a reason for us being here? Something that must be done?
Tali: True... *continue with the story*
That's all I could come up with given what I know and understood of the situation, though it may very well be all useless if you have different plans...
Regardless, I hope at least something is salvageable... I'll be waiting to see your story continue...

Don't quote me on this, since I'm not totally sure, but I believe that both Tali and Mordin were written by Patrick Weekes...MadMapper wrote...
Can someone of the veterans tell me the name of Tali's character designer? I would like to follow him on Twitter
On twitter he goes by the name "patsquinade"... ;P
You should first search for confirmation of what I said from a third party, however...
EDIT: Whoops, you're looking for the designer, not the writer... Then I'm afraid, I can't help you... I don't know who her designer is, sorry...

This must be old, old news of course... but then why is there such a fuzz about how quarians look like and whether we will see her face in ME3? It's not like we have no idea what she looks like yet! I'm also confused about why none of the fan art in the first pages of the thread respects her nose and cheekbones as portrayed in the game...

I'm glad you discovered this for yourself. All I can fathom is a lot of really people are very desperate for Bioware to pull a fast one and turn her into a xenomorph. As you are clearly well aware though her face is quite human.
Though the one you see in either game is just a placeholder and as I understand it her placeholder face in ME2 has been altered slightly.

The biggest difference, really, is the lack of a jaw/mouth in M2. As far as I am aware, Tali's model from ME1 became the base model for the ME2 quarian females.Though the one you see in either game is just a placeholder and as I understand it her placeholder face in ME2 has been altered slightly.
For anyone who didn't see it the first time around, here's a recap: ME1 Tali on the left, ME2 Tali on the right.

Love finding out new things about my favourite characters. Her nose shape has been altered too. Of course, I doubt the placeholder will be much of an indicator of her appearance.

I posted this awhile back for the same reasons you mentioned. As Troodon mentioned it's a 'placeholder', but I don't think they would stray too far from this in a reveal. Fan art is art interpretation, just like fan fiction is interpretation. My guess is we all have a slightly different idea of what we want her to look like or what we think looks 'right'. As long as it's tasteful. I approve.Nyoka wrote...
Hi there folks... so I was playing ME1 and equipped Tali with liberator armor, and her face became pretty much apparentlink, link. I made the screenies brighter but still. There is more than eyes there.

I wouldn't have thought so, since the light on her face reveals that she at least has a somewhat humanoid nose. They can hardly give her a flat-ish 'nose' like Garrus in ME3. That would seem ... well... kind of stupid.I posted this awhile back for the same reasons you mentioned. As Troodon mentioned it's a 'placeholder', but I don't think they would stray too far from this in a reveal.
From a lot of the ME1 shots of Tali and also some of ME2, you get to see that she also has some sort of similar facial structure to humans (i.e. cheekbones, nose, eyes and I can only assume some sort of mouth.)
To be perfectly honest, I don't care what she looks like, feature-wise at least. Most of us here like Tali for her character and personality, not her looks (one of the reasons why I, personally, don't use the terms "dat", "dis" or "dem" anything).
But, on the flip side of that, if they do show some sort of a reveal, I (yes, personal opinion here) would like the skin to be pale - since it stands to reason that not having to deal with UV rays (due to wearing the suits) would likely cause a reduction in skin pigment, over the course of 300 years, anyway. Though that really depends on what kind of 'skin' quarians have. Since that's still ambiguous and open to interpretation.
