Can anyone recommend some good Tali fanfic (Already read FsD's)? I just went looking and all I found was some wierd OOC stuff that made Garrus superman and Cerberus shine, while hating on the non-human squadmates. Not good, not good.

Believe me if you look at the amount of Tali fanfiction on fanfiction.com, I'll probably have around 95% stored on my HDD.

See, dis is what I like. So much fanfiction that you forget the first few by the time you hit the end!

Bleh, that last one got me in a bad mood. Starts off fine from Tali's perspective, Garrus & her are buddies & all, and it randomly vears off and suddenly it's Miranda & Garrus the Superintelligents, guiding the petty group of children (Led by Tali) and ending their immature little antics. Then Tali apologizes.

My day just r became sux0r. I need good fanfic to wash my brain out with.

Hmm that sounds familiar, is that the one where Tali's engineer friends get punished by Miranda for altering the drivecore? which goes from one thing to another before Garrus becomes the liaison officer between shepards "independent contractors" and Cerberus.

Is that the one you read?

Please don't tell me that such a detailed piece is going to be let down by a toe-fail...?

Kind of what I'm getting at; noting that it is a spectacularly detailed piece, it's severely let down by the lack of that toe, which while small it isn't invisible. Whoever did this piece obviously put in a huge amount of effort, that much is commendable, but for me at least, the missing toe is a glaring omission; kind of hard to not notice it when you expect it in such a high quality piece.

The rest of the picture is fantastic, though.

Well, it's like the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time. The story DNI's referring to is one of mine, Second, which details a day on the Normandy when Shepard is off the ship and Miranda is left in charge, and an argument between her and Tali over protocol escalates into something ugly.

What's interesting is how some fans of Miranda have an opposite view of DNI's because they say this story makes her out to be a cold, inflexible, uber-controlling, biatch with no friends and horrible leadership skills, whereas Tali, Mordin, Garrus and the rest of the gang are the lively kids who sit together at the cool table. "Miri would never be that way..." Some people just might think of her that way, including Tali. YMMV...

But Tali has an extreme, almost pathological hatred of Cerberus (for good reason)  which prejudices her immediately against anything they ask her do. She's loyal to Shepard, not Miranda, so when Miranda starts bossing her around she gets mad. And Mad Tali doesn't pull punches. The problem comes when both sides have valid points but personality gets in the way of either side seeing it. That's what happens here.

In the end, it's not Tali doesn't apologize to the "superintelligents" considering they are just as much to blame as she is. She does accept the fact she overreacted, just as Miranda does. But the only one she apologizes to is Garrus, her friend, for putting him in the middle of it.

Personally I like your work. Friends Like These I liked the most... with Shepard behaviour been the highlight.  please continue writing Mr ElectricZ, your stories are like a beacon in the darkness of crappy fanfiction.

Sorry about that, ElectricZ. Lack of sleep + Bad mood + Posting something right before I left to sleep = Poor attitude. It was well-written, and on a better day, I would have just said that I found some of the characters OOC, rather than the opinionated crap I posted above.

Really, the only thing that I found very disconcerting character-wise was Garrus. Miranda was pretty in-character, as well as the rest. Tali I found somewhat OOC, but as I said, Garrus: I, at least, found him to be rather worn and jaded in the game; I didn't think he'd be so tolerant and Shepard-ly during a time such as that. Of course, JMO.

So take that and replace the original BS I spewed around <=3

Hmm, Calinstel's fanfics, Nuke's stuff, Razor's edge... that's all I can remember for now.

No apologies necessary! While it's nice to hear people gush over something you do (thanks, Anima, Mako -- I really appreciate the kudos) there's nothing wrong with saying something sucks as long as you don't get personal or nasty about it, and you didn't. I'm not get mad at ya for having an opinion, you shouldn't have to apologize for having one. Though I appreciate it - polite discourse on discussion boards doesn't always happen.

As for Garrus, we can slide on over to his thread if you care to chat more about him.
