Well, the suits must have some sort of hygienic upkeep program. maybe some sort of nano-machines that destroy dead skin or sweat or maybe some sort of chemical. Quarians can't take showers, so on long pilgrimages there would need to be some clean up program.

I don't see why showers would be out of the question. It can't be that hard to find one that you can sterilize and freshen up in.

Also, they don't seem to be consistent with the 3rd toe: quite a few of the generic female quarian models don't have one.

I might be a bit late to the party here, but this is wrong.
All quarian females who aren't Tali use the exact same model, all they do is swap the materials around.

So yeah, you probably just missed them yourself.

Though I certainly would've liked it if BioWare put some more effort into differentiating the different quarians from eachother beyond different colour schemes. Especially the admirals could've gotten something that made them stand out from the crowd.

Shohreh Aghdashloo does Shala. And she did, indeed voice a character of The Simpsons, according to the IMDb. (Mina?)
Liz Sroka does Tali, she hasn't done a whole lot of acting/VA beyond that (mainly dancing/choreography), she did act alongside Chuck Norris in "Walker, Texas Ranger", though.

And just for the heck of it, Claudia Black does Daro'Xen (and Matriarch Aethyta, and the Rachni Envoy). Yah, quarian females have hot voices, 'tis written.

Showers generally arn't air tight especially if your using one at a turian homeless shelter on the Citidel.
In order to be properly sterilized an air tight seal would be necessary.

They probably have some sort of "shower" on the flotilla, but given that water is probably an all too scarce resource, its probably not a shower as we would imagine. Not to mention not an option for anyone not currently on the ships.

I thought I recognized Shala's VA from somewhere else. I wonder if we'll see more of her and the rest in ME3.

I hope so, at least.

Once a month you can go to a clinic or something. You don't even have to completely sterilize the entire bathroom. Just scrub it really good and be quick, all you want to do is scrub off dead-skin anyway, maybe clip your finger-nails or whatever else quarians need to do. Then you get dressed again and maybe you run a fever for a few days.

Shower might be the wrong word indeed. It may be more like, strip down, wet rag, clean self. An actual shower or a bath would probably be a luxury. Especially on the Flotilla (if you can get them at all).

As for people on their pilgrimage, like I said there are probably ways around it. After all, some quarians might be on pilgrimage for several years. They have to clean themselves at some point. If they grow hair then they need to cut it every few months.

Now to keep this about Tali: she was probably lucky. On the Normandy I'm sure she could reserve the decontamination chamber every once in a while.

I see what you're saying Shandepared, but the problem is that if your immune system is so weak that simply breathing in unfiltered air you get sick, a shower once a month would be too infrequent to clean off the bacteria that comes with not bathing. For a human that bacteria probably wouldn't be a problem, but for a quarian who knows what damage that would cause.

Well, it's not like a single bacteria could kill them.

I think quarian suits must have some sort of mechanism to get rid of the bacteria.

There is no bacteria to start with, so I don't think there is....

that's what I am talking about.

Chuck is my hero.  Or maybe not, but it was once cool to say that on the internet.

No. Don't ask what today's topic is, you either read the last few pages to get an idea yourself or you start a new topic on your own. And read this.

How Tali hasn't become a gibbering lunatic from having to wear that thing nearly her whole life is beyond me.

That's an exaggeration. I doubt that their immune system is THAT weak.

Well I guess its something you have to live with. Its not like shes the only one. It'd probably drive someone mad if you lived freely for 20 years then someone said "Put this on or you shall die!". Though I have to agree, any time she is able to take it off must be a phenomenon to her.

She's gotten used to it. You'd go insane, because you're not suited to live... well... suited life. Quarians get used to their suits out an early age.

Just the inability to scratch my nose would drive me nuts.

I guess they're going through some sort of psychological training before putting the suits on for the first time.
