In order to play the expansion to the fullest & complete as much side quests/companion quests, what would be the best order to complete the three main quests in Awakening before the final battle(s).

As long as you leave Blackmarsh for last, you're good. However if you want to get the "Vigilance" sword as early as possible, you'd have to do the Wending Woods and Blackmarsh first.

Save the Blackmarsh for last. When you finish the three areas (Blackmarsh, Kal'Hirol, Wending Wood) the game will make it so that the darkspawn are ready for battle and you have to move out, which means that any of your party that hasn't taken the Joining, can't. The character you pick up in the Blackmarsh is already a Warden, so it doesn't matter. Just make sure things are done before the final battle because sidequests are shut out once it starts.
However, I like to start with Blackmarsh since the Sentinel armor you can get there is awesome. And there is a work around that lets you have Sigrun and Velanna take the Joining before you officially recruit them. Let's hear it for favorable mistakes!

To be honest, I don't really care about making Sigrun or Velanna go through the joining. If I have the chance good, if not, bleh.
And Greed does bring a good point with the Sentinel armor, it's awesome and if you want to enjoy it to the fullest, you'd have to do Blackmarsh first.

In the couple of times I've gone through Awakening, I've gone Wending Wood, then Blackmarsh then Kal Hirol. But to make Sigrun a Warden before the final battle starts, once you recruit Sigrun just go back to Vigil's Keep and make her a Warden then go back and finish Kal Hirol. The dialogue gets screwy when you're done with that mission, but if you want Sigrun a Warden thats how I've done it.
