I played WoW when my friends played but like most games, I wouldn't even consider playing if I didn't have my mates and lasses.

Count me in for avoiding Cataclysm too...and TOR while we're at it as well.

I refuse to play any game that I have to play on other people's time. Gaming is a leisure activity, it should never be a "responsibility" unless you're getting paid for it or something.

MMORPGs are too time consuming anyways. I like a large variety of games, I don't have any interest in playing a game that takes so much time that I don't have time to play other games. I feel sorry for all the WOW addicts who are missing out on all the great releases because they need to grind their character.
They should try "grinding" at the gym instead for a change.

I used to grind a lot some years ago; like this, actually:

Well, I can understand the feeling-- kind of, I guess-- but, honestly, I don't think there's a single game that I would refuse to play on principal, whether because it's a favorite of people who I don't care for or for any other reason.

There are critically acclaimed games that I just have zero interest in playing, but I wouldn't refuse to ever try them.  It's just incredibly unlikely I would ever try them, as there are probably hundreds of other games I would sooner play.

I agree, I laugh my ass off at those who refuse to try a game merely for the sake of non-conformity. The people who are automatically against trying something mainstream so that they can retain their illusional "hipster" status.

If there was one thing I found out about WoW it's never play with people you know. They constantly badger you about it, especially if they're new to the game and they have that "Well you know how to do it so show me how because I can't be bothered finding out for myself" attitude.

Thought of another few. Any Wii game won't get the time of day from me, nor any Move or Kinect games.

Final fantasy and most other JRPG's. It's the combat system, of lets all stand around and take turns hitting each other. I can see the tactical appeal, but the pacing just bores me. It's not what I want in a video game.

I pretty much gave up on playing JRPGs years ago, as I just don't like most of them (Final Fantasy included), but I've recently been giving certain ones another chance, and I have come to two disturbing conclusions:

1. My tolerance for JRPGs seems to go up slightly when the game in question is handheld.

2. Further research is needed, but I MIGHT actually be a Shin Megami Tensei fan.

I don't think there's any game I wouldn't try if someone handed it to me and said "Here, it's free". There are many I wouldn't buy because they don't interest me, and there are a few that interest me that I refuse to buy due to DRM issues, but that's nothing to do with the game itself.

There are lots of games I'll never play again because i tried and didn't like them, but to never even try? Hell, I don't know. I'll go with Final Fantasy 13 because it just doesn't appeal to me, especially with the talk of how linear it is for most of the game and that it drags. What I've heard of the story doesn't really interest me either, so yeah, I'm skipping that one.

That said, if someone were to just hand me a free copy, I can't say I wouldn't give it a go.

Also DC Universe Online and TOR, only because they're MMO's and I've strongly disliked every MMO I've ever tried, so despite loving DC Comics and Star Wars, i'll have to pass on both.

awww, Merin, you deprive yourself of the awesomeness of RockBand? I regularly have my brother and his g/f over and my husband and I rock out with them ... it's the joy of karaoke without the drunken onlookers and with air guitars that make noise ;)

edit -> and drums, can't forget drums!

I refuse to play anything Ubisoft makes as long as they continue to use that intrusive DRM.

GH/RB would be better if they had better set lists. As it is, I can't justify dropping that much cash on a game that only has a few songs I like. I love playing them... at my cousin's house... but I'd never buy one.
